1 / Job Purpose:
  • Supporting the Head of Business Development and Fundraising to achieve the department’s targets as laid out in the annual budget and Operational Plan and manage the market analysis in relation to tenders and partnerships.

2 / Dimensions: i.e. budget, no of staff, areas of work etc.
  • Organisation wide role, covering all work areas of Quarriers. The post holder will also have responsibility for market and tender analysis, and performance review of tender work.
  • The post holder will lead on the design, development and compilation of tenders and other income maximisation activity as directed by the Head of Business Development and Fundraising.

3 / Key Objectives and Accountabilities:
  • Lead on the business development process, to compile, write and submit high quality PQQs and tenders from across the organisation.
  • Lead across all service and geographical areas of business development growth, ensuring the organisation submits high quality PQQ, ITT and Grant submissions.
  • Support service design process with colleagues from across the organisation.
  • Lead in the identification of new business opportunities, using clear growth criteria.
  • Supporting the Head of Business Development and Fundraising to identify areas of potential future growth
  • Contribute towards design and implementationof a departmental business plan and strategy, aligned to the annual Operational Plan.
  • Work closely with the operations teams and relevant support services functions in identifying and capturing project innovations and best practices to be included in tenders.
  • Develop a library of case studies which can be used as best practice/innovative examples
  • Contribute towards building commercially competitive bids, by compiling, analysing and sharing information from tenders.
  • Support specific growth sectors (by service area or geography), by developing time-bound bespoke plans and contributing towards stakeholder and partner engagement.
  • Work with internal stakeholders across the organisation to improve tender awareness/processes and contract development.
  • Design, monitor and where appropriate managing the collation of tender submissions, contracts, case studies via an accessible database (which captures key financial information, project start dates and end dates).
  • Represent Quarriers as directed, on development partnerhips and external forums and networks.
  • Draft, review, monitor and finalise documents in relation to joint working agreements with other third sector organisations.
  • Contribute to management information reports requested by the Executive and Board of Trustees.
  • Contribute towards wider collation and analysis of the organisations social impact.
  • Undertake ad hoc project work on behalf of the Head of Business Development and Fundraising.

4 / Key Performance Outcomes and Measures:
  • Achieve and exceed business growth targets as set by the Executive and Board of Trustees as laid out in the Operational Plan.
  • Implement contract management policy and procedure across the organisation.
  • Undertake regular service and service model reviews; aligning with re-contracting cycles.
  • Support Operational Managers, Heads of Service and Project Managers to understand their role within the business development process.
  • Collate, compile, analyse and distribute key tender and market intelligence information, with a view to informing future tender quality.
  • Provide support to the organisation when making commercial decision by allowing more informed decisions to be made.

5 / Knowledge, Skills and Experiencenecessary for the role:
  • Successful bid writing experience and experience of leading on a business development process is essential
  • Excellent writing skills are essential.
  • Successful experience of developing effective and productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels is essential.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and prioritise work load effectively.
  • Must be comfortable working to deadlines.
  • Must be able to lead and co-ordinate colleagues activity and contribution in service design and business development process.
