MAJOR GIFTS OFFICER

Women for Women International was founded in 1993 to support women survivors of war to rebuild their lives and their countries. Women for Women was set up in the UK in 2006 and has built a strong major donors supporters base. The income that is currently raised through major gifts is £450,000. We are also developing a grassroots campaign to build profile, influence and new funding streams.

This is a new post and an exciting time to join Women for Women International.

REPORTING TO: DIRECTOR OF POLICY & DEVELPMENT

DEPARTMENT: FUNDRAISING

LOCATION: LONDON

PURPOSE: The Major Gifts Officer works closely with the Events Coordinator and the Director of Policy & Development to plan, coordinate and execute a major gifts strategy, including major donor engagement and events, and raising funds from trusts and foundations.

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Major Donor Development

·  Plan and coordinate a Major Donor Development plan with different tiers

·  Support the Executive Team in ensuring their major donor portfolios are kept up to date and are progressed.

·  Research potential new major donors and provide support for cultivation and solicitation to the Director of Policy & Development

·  Plan, coordinate and execute an annual Major Donor Communications plan, including stewardship mailings, solicitations, email updates etc.

·  Plan, coordinate and support the stewardship of major donors through the execution of smaller major donor events together with the Events Coordinator

·  Produce Major Donor communications materials

·  Ensure timely thanking of any donations and recording those as necessary.

·  Keep all relevant parties informed and communicate any tasks clearly and in good time.

·  Ensure close collaboration with the Finance team around expected income from major donor activities

Leadership Circle Support

·  Plan and support the implementation of a communications and engagement plan for the London Leadership Circle and the Junior Leadership Circle under the guidance of the Director of Policy & Development

·  Support and organise Leadership Circle events

·  Support and administer Leadership Circle trips to countries where Women for Women International has programmes

Trusts & Foundations

·  Plan and implement a timetable for raising funds from trusts and foundations.

·  Maintain a pipeline for trusts and foundations

·  Liaise with the US Major Gifts Manager to ensure opportunities are maximized and we use our global resources effectively

Contact Management Systems

·  Manage the Database and input all donations.

·  Use the database to support the major donor communications strategy

·  Support the grassroots communications strategy and ensure the effective use of the database for this

·  Manage portfolio summary reports with the support from the US team to ensure we are on target with our plans

Evaluation

·  Produce regular and systematic reports to report and analyse progress against major donor fundraising strategies

·  Use analysis to inform future planning of major donor engagement strategies

Intern and Volunteer Management

·  Identify requirements for support, such as contact management and event administration, and liaise with the Executive Assistant, or other designated member of staff to ensure availability and selection of interns and volunteers

·  Provide daily supervision and direction to those undertaking tasks as part of the major donor portfolio

Other

·  Work within the framework of Women for Women International’s core values and in compliance with its equal opportunities policy.

Person Specification

·  BA degree

·  Proven record of successful fundraising experience in particular with major donors, trusts & foundations at a non-profit organisation or another relevant institution

·  Extraordinary organisational skills and the ability to prioritise with attention to detail and maintain accuracy under pressure

·  The ability to represent the organisation and interface with all levels of staff, volunteers, and high level donors

·  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to compose, edit, and proof correspondence and documents required

·  Excellent computer skills, including competency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook

·  In particular excellent ability using a database

·  Confidentiality.

Terms & Conditions:

Salary: £23,000 - £25,000 per annum

Holidays: 25 days per year

Pension: Employers Stakeholder Pension
