Dear Applicant:

We, the Savannah Alumni Chapter of South Carolina State University, will award a $1000.00 scholarship to a Savannah area senior who will attend South Carolina State University in the fall of 2018.

All parts of the application packet must be mailed on or before April 25, 2018. A committee to recommend the recipient will review all complete packets. Incomplete packets will not be considered.

Applicant Criteria

·  Graduating senior from a Savannah area (Chatham, Effingham, Bryan, and Liberty Counties) high school in the class of 2018.

·  Cumulative GPA of 2.5 (NGA 80.0) or above.

·  Will attend South Carolina State University in the fall of 2018.

Application Packet Must Include:

·  Completed student application form.

·  Official transcript – include SAT and/or ACT scores. Transcript and SAT/ACT scores must be in a separate envelope, sealed by the counselor.

·  Two letters of recommendation: 1) a letter from a teacher, counselor, or school administrator and 2) a letter from a community or church leader.

·  Student Essay: at least 200 words discussing 1) your financial need, 2) participation in extra-curricula activities in school, community, and/or church and 3) your career goals.
