MINUTES, HENDERSON CITY COUNCIL REGULAR MEETING, WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 2014

Meeting called to order at 8:00 P.M. by Mayor Paul Menne at the community meeting room. Present were council members Jeff Steinborn, Kelly Braun and James Brenno. Also present were Police Chief Randy Haken, Joe and Bev Bertrang, Richard Haas, Doug Thomas, Mary Ann Pilling, Fred Wentzlaff, Karl Wolters, Arlene Busse, representatives from Amber Field Place and Nick Pollack.

Motion Steinborn, seconded Brenno to approve minutes from the April 16, 2014 meeting. Motion carried.

Police Chief Haken presented the May monthly report including citation information, squad car use, roll-in update, part time Officer Widmer to resign to take another job May 31, 2014 (no new hiring for replacement) and national night out and pride day.

Richard Haas requested service discontinuation for the adjacent lot he purchased on North 5th Street (parcel 35.0150.000-he also owns property on North 6th Street, parcel 35.0145.000). Motion Braun, seconded, Brenno to approve the application for discontinuation of services/fees. Motion carried.

Mary Ann Pilling representing the 1900 group presented parking plan for the building/grounds restoration project. After Pilling and Doug Thomas responded to questions from adjacent property owners and the mayor and city council no action was taken pending additional information.

City Administrator Berberich reported on current activities including CLG and Legacy grant, distribution of guidebooks, menu and attendance for the Sibley County Municipalities meeting, Elite contract (going to continue as is-no committee appointed), blacktop work, current comprehensive plan with example of a possible revised plan (Berberich to obtain a proposal from Region 9 to be presented at the next meeting), Oak View Heights letter, capital outlay items, fountain and other items.

Motion Steinborn, seconded Brenno to purchase fountain for Community Square (placed near the Henderson Lions sign) for a cost not to exceed $2200. Motion carried.

Motion Brenno, seconded Braun to authorize the purchase of a tool box, cherry picker, liner for the new dump truck and also allow for modifications for city garage bathroom improvements to be paid for through the equipment and capital outlay fund. Motion carried.

Motion Braun, seconded Steinborn to approve the lists of blacktop patches and holes to be filled as submitted and accept the lowest price quotation providing for the best work and authorize the work to proceed. Motion carried.

Motion Brenno, seconded Steinborn to approve the following bills with the motion carried.

Motion Brenno, seconded Braun to approve the April monthly report. Motion carried.

Motion Braun, seconded Brenno to approve the application of the Henderson Lions Club and Sauerkraut Days Committee to sell 3.2 at Bender Park for Sauerkraut Days June 27-29. Motion carried.

Motion Steinborn, seconded Braun to approve the revised meeting schedule; motion carried.

Mayor Menne adjourned the meeting at 9:40 P.M.
