Meeting was brought to order by Pres. Laura Carter
President Carter wished everyone a Happy New Year and welcomed them back.
Phil Gurke the Director of Transportation of GPISD was introduced. He welcomed everyone and told of up and coming events for GPISD and Region 11.
President Carter introduced the vendors and gave them much praise and thanked them for all of their support.
Vendors were Hydrotex Lube, Stewart & Stevenson, Rich Prillman, Fuelco Systems.
Told the membership of the 100 percent support of the vendors we have for the 2013-2014 Roadeo.
President welcomed first time Attendees: April Davis, Trips Dispatcher Dallas County Schools, Raney Service Center
Barbara from Garland ISD and informed us of the poster contest starting for the year. She told us of the divisions for grades K-8 General ED and the Special needs categories. The theme this year is: “Be Smart—Be Seen, I wait in a Safe Place!”
We were also told about the speech contest which the theme is “What Makes My School Bus 7 Times Safer than Other Passenger Vehicles?”
Gave brochures for the membership to pass out to their perspective campuses/ districts.
Aaron Hobbs, Transportation Executive Director of Dallas County Schools, informed everyone of a group called the Regional Public School Consultation Group and a meeting they were going to have at Dallas County Schools on January 24th 2014 to discuss valuable information about safety implications on school closings and such in case of emergencies as the one we had with the ice storm, un January 6th and 9th.
Meeting will be as follows: January 24, 2014 at Dallas County Schools/Texserve Technology Center, 5151 Samuell Blvd Dallas, Texas 75228.
Mr. Hobbs expressed that it would be a great meeting to attend to get the great minds of local and away districts to come together to share ideas promote the safety of our students and communication.
Some of the attendees would be: National Weather Service, TxDot, ONCOR, and ATMOS.
No Old Business was introduced at the meeting.
Mike Williams was on hand to remind us of the TAPT classes that were in place for Frisco.
Let us know that the website was up and ready to take reservations for the League City classes also in February 15-16 2014. Also informed us of the “Sweetheart Dance” in League City this year.
Mike also informed us of any ideas that we had for Corpus Christi Conference would be greatly appreciated.
Treasurer’s Report will be read upon request.
Kevin Vollweiler informed us that TASBT will have classes available for the weekend of January 25-26 in Frisco also. There will be lots of hands on things to do.
Members in attendance were 70
Food was blessed and the meeting was adjourned.
