Re-evaluating five year plan, NM COA structure and strategies,
o  Discuss Current 4 goals listed in the intro on page 7 of strategic plan on website https://nmhealth.org/news/awareness/2014/6/?view=90 (last accessed successfully on 5/24/2017):
•  Coordinate Data sharing
•  Increasing asthma education targeted to health care providers
•  Educate patients, families, schools, and communities to reduce hospitalization rates and regional and ethnic disparities
•  Participate in legislative advocacy for school based health reforms that affect the access to emergency treatment of asthma and anaphylaxis in the school setting. / The Burden of Asthma, last published by the DOH in 2014. Diana said the updated data needs to be submitted to the CDC. The CDC prefers shorter, snapshot reports because they are also publishing reports by state. Adult data for 2015 should be available on the CDC website. Diana to send everyone the link.
The council and DOH, based on the last Burden of Asthma report, developed the NMCOA strategic plan.
Review goals, and who is responsible
-  Administrative committee was responsible; review the partner list; identify areas for utilization of data
-  Focus on the mission/vision:
Reduce asthma health disparities and improve the quality of life for all people with asthma in New Mexico by coordinating statewide efforts, bringing together community organizations and others to achieve sustainable statewide efforts, bringing together community organizations and others to achieve sustainable statewide changes in the environment, education and quality of health care as they relate to asthma
-  What is the role of the council?
-  There is a template for taking minutes that includes person responsible, duties, due dates
-  There is a question as to the purpose of the council: is it a networking group to ensure that there is less duplication of work; or is the council designed to do actual work
-  One issue for the council to tackle could be reimbursement issue
-  There is some roles and responsibilities-type information available, but it maybe hasn’t been publicized within the group
-  Clarify who is actually a NMCOA member; every current active member needs to recruit at least one new/active member; focus on statewide representation vs. just the metro area
-  Envision NM may be able to provide telehealth options regarding technology
-  Have a master calendar for the year
-  Review meeting structure; options include holding quarterly meetings, meetings after 5 p.m.
-  At each meeting, have each member present have 1 – 2 minutes to report out on their current projects/programs; members provide a written synopsis for minutes/preparation
-  Website updates: surveys, blog
Reviewing membership to see if we have the right membership for these strategies or others that we choose.
