SECTION 238233 - CONVECTORS

PART 1 GENERAL

RELATED DOCUMENTS

Contractors, manufacturers, manufacturer representatives, vendors, suppliers, etc. are cautioned that requirements of the Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 1 Specification sections, apply to work of this section. Sections 230210, 230220, 230240, 230510, 230511, 230533, 230593, 230596, and 230924, must be reviewed for compliance with the requirements of this section.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Test and rate baseboard and finned tube radiation in accordance with I=B=R, provide published ratings bearing emblem of I=B=R.

SUBMITTALS

General: Submittals shall demonstrate compliance with technical requirements by reference to each subsection of this specification. Where a submitted item does not comply fully with each and every requirement of the Specifications, the submittal shall clearly indicate such deviations. Identification requirements for non-complying features of items are very specific. See Section 230210 for exact requirements.

Manufacturer's Data: Submit manufacturer's specifications for terminal units showing dimensions, capacities, ratings, performance characteristics, gages and finishes of materials, and installation instructions.

PART 2 PRODUCTS

STEAM/WATER CONVECTORS

General: Provide convectors having cabinet sizes and in locations as indicated, and of capacities, style, and having accessories as scheduled.

Cabinets: Minimum 16ga steel front and top panels, 18ga steel side panels, and 20ga galvanized steel back panels. Paint tops, sides, and fronts with one coat of primer. Secure fronts in place with quick opening slide bolts or camlock fasteners.

Recessed Cabinets: Onepiece front panel, with 4side gasketed overlap

Elements: Aluminum fins, ribbed steel side plates, fin tube supports and copper tubes, castiron headers. Factorytest each element to 150 psi air pressure under water.

Accessories: Provide the following accessories:

Factorymounted manual damper

1/2" rigid mineral fiber insulation in accordance with ASTM C612 on cabinet back

Access doors in front for valve access

ELECTRIC CONVECTORS

General: Provide industrial grade, electric, wall mounted convectors having cabinet sizes and in locations as indicated, and of capacities, style, and having accessories as scheduled.

Cabinets: Minimum 18-ga steel case with zinc chromate primer and neutral gray baked-on finish.

Elements: Shock proof steel fin tube with furnace brazed fins.

Thermostat: Built-in with over-temperature cutout and automatic reset.

PART 3 EXECUTION

INSTALLATION OF CONVECTORS

Install convectors as indicated, and in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.

Locate convectors as indicated, coordinate with other trades to assure correct recess size for recessed convectors.

ADJUSTING AND CLEANING

After construction is completed, including painting, clean unit exposed surfaces, vacuum clean terminal coils and inside of cabinets.

Retouch any marred or scratched surfaces of factoryfinished cabinets, using finish materials furnished by manufacturer.

OWNER INSTRUCTION AND TRAINING

Provide Owner instruction and training in accordance with Section 230240.
