MARCO POLO PERFORMANCE TASK/REBIRTH OF LEARNING UNIT
We will be studying Marco Polo over the next several days. Marco Polo was chosen as the 54th Most Influential Person of the Millennium by A & E. (Remember: Influential is the power or capacity of a person to produce effects on others or to affect the outcome of events) You will be exploring his role in history through a video, an assigned reading (Was Marco Polo a Great Explorer or a Liar?) with questions and research using the library’s databases. Your finished product will be a RAFT which will be graded as a test.
Wednesday 10/8
-Assignment introduced, Performance Task explained (RAFT), assigned reading

-Video Part 1: Biography of Marco Polo (take notes on graphic organizer that will
help you complete RAFT.)

We will be looking at art of the Renaissance as well as completing in-class
activities related to the these topics. We will also be taking notes on the Renaissance and
Portuguese Exploration in class
-A study guide for the next weeks test will be distributed.
-I will distribute Path Finder for RAFT activity to be used tomorrow in the library
