Location:West Yorkshire– Leeds

Term: Fixed Term – 31st March 2017 (extended subject to funding)

Salary: £18,124 - £20,200per annum (plus pension contribution) (plus travel expenses and pension contribution)

POSITION SUMMARY

This post is subject to the availability of external funding without which the purpose of employment does not exist.

PURPOSE OF POST

To deliver specific rowing outcomes related to the Leeds core cities project; with responsibility for working with target participant groups and Leeds Rowing Club. To increase participation in rowing of participants aged 11+ through the delivery of co-ordinatedsport and physicalactivity programmes.

Specifically, to work with Leeds Rowing Club (LRC) and local schools and youth organisations to deliver indoor and water based rowing programmes for new and existing rowers.

duties and responsibilities

1.1To help build infrastructure and capacity at LRC through volunteer coordination & providing volunteer support.

1.2Reduce LRC waiting list for juniors (11-16/18) by developing and delivering new sessions/courses allowing more young people to participate in rowing.

1.3Reduce LRC waiting list for adults by developing and delivering new sessions/courses allowing more adults to participate in rowing.

1.4To make rowing accessible to young people from disadvantaged communities where there are high levels of inactive young people and increase participation by developing and delivering new sessions to targeted school groups

1.5To make rowing accessible to disadvantaged communities where there are high levels of adult inactivity and increase participation in adult rowing (dry & wet) by developing and delivering new sessions to targeted adult community groups

1.6Coordinate, develop and deliver a variety of activity to be held at the Thwaites Lane (TM) maximising facility usage.

1.7Support the development ofthe Leeds Core Cities projects through engaging target markets such as disability, BME and women and girls.

1.8Support and contribute to the development of the wider Leeds Rowing Plan by liaising with other rowing partners and providers and attending appropriate forums, meetings and events.

1.9Work closely with the LRC, the local authority, NGB and WYSportto develop the role and its projects, providing regular feedback and progress updates, identify possible changes to continue to increase participation.

1.10Communicate effectively in formal and informal situations with a range of partners by a variety of means.

1.11Assist with the development of marketing and promotional materials appropriate to the individuals/groups worked with.

1.12Assist and undertake administrative tasks as required to effectively deliver, monitor and evaluatethe sports and activity programmes.

1.13Inspire and attract new participants through events, taster sessions and meetings.

1.14Travel to venues within Leeds areas to meet the needs of the organisation.

1.15Assist in the identification and undertaking of his/her own training and development requirements in accordance with the appropriate organisation employee development scheme.

1.16To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as may be determined by the post holder’s supervisor from time to time, in consultation with the post holder.

1.17The post holder’s duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with WYSport policy and procedure including Safeguarding and Equality procedures and with Leeds Rowing Club’s Safeguarding and Water Safety policies and Codes of Conduct.
