JOB TITLE: Administration Officer (Full Time)

LOCATION: Kingsclere, Berkshire
SALARY: £18,000 - £22,000 per annum FTE
REPORTS TO: Chief Executive

Living Paintings is an award-winning national charity publishing unique Touch to See books that bring the visual world to life for blind and partially sighted people. Our books help children learn to read, support students in schools, inspire interests and enable lifelong learning for adults. Our purpose is to end the social and educational isolation suffered by blind and partially sighted people at every stage of their lives. We distribute our Touch to See books nationwide via our FREE postal library to more than 13,000 children, young people and adults living with sight loss. Our books and service are unique.

The postholder will be anefficient administrator with the drive and enthusiasm to contribute to achieving ambitious fundraising targets. The role will focus on fundraising from trusts and foundations but will also support other fundraising initiatives.

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The main purpose of this role is to contribute toraisingfunds primarily from trusts and foundations to meet agreed targets. Success in the role is dependent on effective research, targeting and the identification of opportunities plus the subsequent implementation of carefully planned approaches supported by exemplary follow up processes. The ability to create and develop relationships is essential.

Based at the main office in Kingsclere, Berkshire

Prepared to travel to meet potential funders throughout the UK as required

Contributes to meeting agreed income targets

Contributes to managing volunteers and supporters within the fundraising function

Contributes to establishing and developing relationships with potential funders

DUTIES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implement work plan fortrusts and foundations
  • Carry out research on new trusts to approach.
  • Make and support applications to trusts and foundations according to their requirements.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with trusts and foundations.
  • Produce reports on results of fundraising activity.
  • Support any fundraising events by Living Paintings.
  • Supervise and support as appropriate fundraising volunteers.
  • Maintain and develop data on the Living Paintings contacts database.
  • Maintain a system to acknowledge receipt of all gifts in an appropriate fashion and ensure that all necessary follow-up work is completed.
  • Contribute to the writing and publication of fundraising materials.
  • Ensure that issues, concerns and problems are escalated as appropriate.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Chief Executive on an ad hoc basis.
  • Act as a representative of Living Paintings.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required / Desirable
Experience /
  • At least two years general office administration.
  • Working collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of people both internally and externally.
  • Experience of carrying out research.
  • Working to targets as defined by a workplan.

  • Experience of working in the charity sector and/or working within a disability organisation/and organisation working with blind and partially sighted people.
  • Experience of using a fundraising/CRM database

Qualifications /
  • Educated to A Level or equivalent

  • Fundraising or marketing qualification.

Skills /
  • Ability to work to a workplan.
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills, able to juggle and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • IT skills, including word and excel and the ability to effectively use a CRM database.
  • Able to work on own initiative.
  • Good numeracy.

Travel: Living Paintings reimburses all business mileage and travel expenses.

Working Week: The working week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday, 9.00am – 5.00pm with one hour for lunch. Some weekend and evening work will be required from time to time for which compensatory time off will be given.
