After School Extra-Curricular Enrichment Space

The After School Extra-curricular Enrichment Space (ACES) will not only provide a safe place for children to gather after the 3:00pm hour but also a chance to work with instructors who work in those academic fields.

Breaking Into High-Tech Fields

This program will be an introduction to coding, computer programming and cyber security summer session for 12-16 year students, with a separate group for emerging high school juniors and seniors. Participants will be introduced to the various occupations and emerging career fields that involve computer science.

Design a Makerspace business plan for the District including research of existing makerspace projects, an analysis of the functions that should go in a makerspace at College of the Canyons/Santa Clarita.

Understanding Our Millenial Students/I am a COC Student

This project will explore a number of issues presented by the millennial generation, the nature of their challenges in learning in a college environment and the current teaching and assessment efforts. This project was combined with the “I am a COC student” project. The “I am a COC student” campaign is a social media campaign to brand College of the Canyons as an exciting path for students to pursue their dreams, achieve their goals and inspire others to do the same.

VII.  Team #5: High En-Rollers………………………………………………… 10:30 – 10:45

Streamlined Student Registration Process

This LEAP team will evaluate the current registration process for students using Ellucian Colleague (Datatel/Web Advisor), examine the steps of receiving a registration appointment, logging into WebAdvisor, searching for and selecting courses, selecting non-course fees (parking, health, student rep fee, etc) and the payment process. They will then identify the problems with the process and propose solutions.

See Something, Say Something and Yes Means Yes Campaign

Plan and launch a fully developed marketing plan for campus safety and sexual assault related issues. New laws have been passed that make it imperative that the message is communicated clearly and provide information where people can seek resources on and off campus.
