CONSTITUTION

United Netball Club

1. Name

The club will be called United Netball Cluband will be affiliated to the

All England Netball Association.

2. Aims and objectives

The aims and objectives of the club will be:

• Participation in the sport of netball.

• To promote the club within the local community and netball

• To ensure a duty of care to all members of the club.

• To ensure that all present and future members receive fair and equal treatment.

• Membership of appropriate leagues, for the purpose of establishing regular competitive play for the club’s representative teams.

3. Membership

All members will be subject to the regulations of the constitution and by joining the club will be deemed to accept these regulations and codes of conduct that the club has adopted.

Members will be enrolled in one of the following categories:

• Full member

• Junior member

• Guest member – players who are registered to play for the club but are not full members.

When members leave the club they will be required to return any kit, which has been provided by United Netball Club. Any kit purchased by individuals, may be brought back (if agreed) by the Club at a reduced rate.

On joining the club the new member will be allocated to a team. The decision as to which team the player will be allocated to will be made by the Club Secretary/Club Captain. Members of any team can be asked to play up in a team within the club in a higher league. The Club Secretary/Club Captain will make the decision as to who will be asked to play up.

4. Membership fees

Membership fees will be set annually and agreed by the Officers of the Club or determined at the Annual General Meeting. A joining fee will be payable on joining the club. In addition, fees are payable at the rate of £15.00 per calendar month (from September 2013), by standing order, unless agreed by the Club Treasurer.

5. Officers of the club

The officers of the club will be:

  • Secretary/Club Captain
  • Treasurer
  • Safeguarding Officer
  • Social Secretary
  • Senior Club members (SCM) (Treasurer and both Vice Captains)
  • Kit Secretary
  • Tournament Secretary

Officers will be elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.

6. Committee

The club will be managed through the Management Committee consisting of: Secretary/Club Captain and the Treasurer.

The Management Committee will be responsible for adopting new policy, codes of conduct and rules that affect the organisation of the club.

The Management Committee will have powers to appoint sub-committees as necessary and appoint advisers to the Management Committee as necessary to fulfill its business.

The SCM will be responsible for disciplinary hearings of members who infringe the club rules/regulations/constitution. The SCM will be responsible for taking any action of suspension or discipline following such hearings.

7. Finance

The Club Treasurer will be responsible for the finances of the club.

The financial year of the club will end in the month prior to the AGM.

Astatement of annual accounts will be presented by the Treasurer at the Annual General Meeting.

8. Annual general meetings

The Club Secretary will give notice of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Not less than 14 clear days notice to be given to all members.

The AGM will receive a report from officers of the Management Committee and a statement of the accounts.

Nominations for officers of the Management Committee will where possible be sent to the Secretary prior to the AGM. Nominations can also be made during the AGM.

Elections of officers are to take place where possible at the AGM.

All members have the right to vote at the AGM.

The quorum for AGMs will be 25% of the membership at that time.

The Management Committee has the right to call Extraordinary General Meetings (EGMs) outside the AGM. Procedures for EGMs will be the same as for the AGM.

9. Discipline and appeals

All complaints regarding the behaviour of members should be submitted in writing to the Secretary.

The SCM will meet to hear complaints within 7 days of a complaint being lodged. The committee has the power to takeappropriate disciplinary action including the termination of membership. (See Disciplinary Code)

The outcome of a disciplinary hearing should be notified in writing to the person who lodged the complaint and the member against whom the complaint was made within 7 days of the hearing.

There will be the right of appeal to the Club Secretary, A and B team captains and the Social Secretary, following disciplinary action being announced. They should consider the appeal within 7days of the Secretary receiving the appeal.

10. Colours

The colours of the club shall be blue/white tops, skirts and dresses and royal blue bibs(with white writing), or such colours as may be adopted from time to time, by the Management Committee.

11. Umpires

Umpires, who are members of the club, are to be paid at the normal rate of those umpires who are not members of the club, when umpiring United Netball Team games.

12. Dissolution

A resolution to dissolve the club can only be passed at an AGM or EGM through a majority vote of the membership.

In the event of dissolution, any assets of the club that remain will become the property of the members of the club.

13. Amendments to the constitution

The constitution will only be changed through agreement by majority vote at an AGM or EGM.

14. Declaration

United Netball Clubhereby adopts and accepts this constitution as a current operating guide regulating the actions of members.
