LanSchool Software Installation Permission Form

This year, American Academy will be introducing LanSchool softwareto all school computers to facilitate student computer monitoring and to enhance teacher instruction capabilitiesin the classroom setting. For more information about the LanSchool product, please visit or contact the American Academy IT Director, Brian Wherry ().

LanSchool has already been loaded on all computers owned by American Academy.We also require that all personal student computers used in American Academy classrooms to have LanSchool installed. While we cannot in general require everyone to have LanSchool on their personal computers,please note that any personal student computers without LanSchool installed will not be allowed to be used in American Academy classrooms.Students already bringing in personal laptops must visit the IT Department to have this added to their computers.

With LanSchool software, American Academy teachers or administrators will be able to:

-give tests and receive grading results instantly

-place the teacher screen onto student computers for close-up demonstrations and to lock the screen in place during instruction

-send messages to and receive messages from students

-view and monitor student computer screens on their teacher computer

-control student computers from the teacher computer (for example, keyboard, mouse, screen)

-allow or block certain web sites on student computers

-allow or block applications on student computers

-view internet browsing history on student computers

With LanSchool software, American Academy teachers or administrators will NOT be able to:

-check up on student computer use, internet activities or student work at home;

-view students with the student’s computer camera;

-use the LanSchool software for any reason other than in-school student instruction and monitoring;

The LanSchool software only works on the School network, and will not function when your student is away from school (i.e. the School will NOT
be able to monitor your student’s computer for any reason at any time when they are outside of school).

CONSENT TO HAVE LANSCHOOL INSTALLED ON STUDENT COMPUTER

I hereby give my permission for American Academy (“the School”) to load LanSchool software on my student’s computer for the purposes of classroom instruction and monitoring. I acknowledge that this software does not work outside of the School’s network and that the School will not be able to monitor my student’s computer or internet activities outside of school. I also acknowledge that my student will not be able to use his/her computer at the school without LanSchool installed. I hereby release and hold harmless the School, it’s CAO, it’s Board Members, officers, agents, employees, teachers and authorized volunteers from any and all liability, liens, claims, demands, actions or cases of action, whatsoever arising from my student’s participation in the above reference activity.
