King County Unified Sports League Play Coordinator

Overview
The League Play Coordinator will act as a liaison between the King County Sr. Region Manager and the individual school Unified Sports teams (elementary-high school) regarding school recruitment and league play organization and implementation.

Position Title: Unified Sports League Play Coordinator
Supervisor: Sr. Region Manager, King County

Principle Duties:

1.  Organize league play for participating Unified Sports school teams. This includes:

·  Basketball (January-March) season and soccer (March-June) season

·  Communicating with coaches regarding attendance at 4-5 weekly games

·  Creating brackets and league play schedule for elementary-high school competition

·  Communicating weekly league play schedules to coaches/coordinators

·  Utilizing SOWA Games Management System to input teams and their information

·  Insuring that ALL athletes and partners have completed the appropriate paperwork to play

·  Insuring that ALL coaches are current on WSP and coach’s trainings

·  Setting up and tearing down necessary sports equipment

·  Hold coaches’ meeting at the beginning of the season and at each league play and review rules, make announcements, etc.

·  Arrange for officials to be present at games and are trained in Unified Sports

·  Co-lead the District tournament with the Sr. Manger

·  Support Unified Schools at Winter Games (March 3-5) and State Unified Soccer (May 27)

2.  Recruit and utilize a Games Management Team of volunteers for the league play days. This includes:

·  Utilizing school contacts, using Volunteer match and other means to recruit volunteers

·  Ensure every volunteer understands their roles

·  Ensure all GMT members completed the appropriate Special Olympics Washington volunteer paperwork

·  Assign roles to GMT members on game day including scorekeeping & equipment oversight.
