Environmental Laws and Regulations 5640 (Monday at 7 – 9:30 pm) Spring 2015

Course Objective: To provide students with a working knowledge of major environmental statutes and regulations. Students will be taught how to identify and analyze applicable environmental statutes, regulations, guidance and policies and apply them to environmental problems.
Assigned Text:Environmental Law Handbook, 21stor 22ndEdition, and class handouts and materials posted on course website.
Bring to Class:The assigned text and any relevant handouts. This class is designed with the expectation that you have read the assigned chapter before the lecture. Failure to do so will minimize your ability to understand the lecture.
Attendance:Class discussion and participation are important components of this course and attendance is strongly encouraged. Students registered to take the class on campuswho attend all 12lectures will receive 4 extra credit final test pointsand those who attend 11 of the 12 lectures will receive 2 extra creditfinal test points. Distance students are strongly encouraged to participate through on-line chat in real time during regularly scheduled class time. Distance students will receive 4 extra credit final test points for certifying that that they have viewed 12 lectures and 2 extra credit final test points for certifying that they have viewed 11 lectures.
Exams:There will be two tests, two quizzes, and one final exam.
Grading:Two tests (25% for best test and 15% for second test), quizzes (15%), homework (10%), and final exam (35%).
