The June 21, 2017 Quarterly BPOR meeting was held at Buckingham County Social Services.

Guest Speakers: Dean Harris and Katie Irby from Southside Community College Adult Education Specialist – Spoke about the programs they have to offer to help people get their GED free of cost, Assistance for foster children, Assistance for the truck driving school, ETC. There is no paper worker on the agency end, just sent the referral to Dean Harris at 434-736-2003 for 804-387-0739 and they will follow up. Package of information was passed out.

Kristy Meyer- Home office Change Management Specialist- Monitoring there business practices to provided better tools to do our jobs.

Catherine Pond- Regional Consultant for Energy- Handed out slide pkg /discussed cooling also provided information for contacts for Weatherization, Top Energy Saving Tips, Cooling Fact Sheet, income limits – States Dominion has a program to provide AC units- Client will need to contact Dominion for information. Fact sheet is to be given out with each cooling application. Cooling apps asks questions about fuel, how to heat home etc, if there questions are answered the case could either be pre-approved or have a preprinted fuel application sent to client. Cooling app will be updated to reflect the preferred method of contact-if they choose tex, email, a copy must still be sent to an AR that is listed. The AR will not get an email or tex. Vendor list has been recently updated.

If a customer borrows AC unit a statement needs to states equipment will be returned/ removed with a date. This can also be verbal.

Several agencies having trouble with duplicate people. – Call in a ticket. They do not want to see DO NOT USE, DUPLICATE, ETC.

December 6, 2017 –Amelia (gifts will be collected and distributed to nursing home______.) Did not have name of nursing home at meeting.

BPRO Appreciation Month was a hugh success which was held by Prince Edward. See BPRO website for events pictures. Theme was a carnival with games and prizes, lots of carnival food, quest speakers, vendors. Event was held at the Farmville train station.

New Business: Slate of Officers introduction:

President: Christie Bruce – Amelia, Vice President- Cindy McDaniel – Prince Edward, Secretary Brenda Holman- Nottoway, and Treasure- Rosemary Shook.

BPRO dues for all officers must be paid by July 1, 2017 non offices BPRO dues must be paid by Aug 31, 2017. Renewal form on web site.

Open Discussing of spring conference, those who went felt it was a great conference. Issues with VACMS, how agency work flow is being handled, DMIS- scanning issue, suggestion by Tammy Hunt from Cumberland to use the snip it tool. Click on your window icon at bottom of page, type in snipping tool and pin to your tool bar. (Example client emails paystubs and they are upside down or too dark. Use snip it tool cut and paste into new work document. Upload to DMIS.
