JOB TITLE: Head of Health, Care and Support

Organisational Responsibilities

Reports to: Director of Health, Care and Support

Line Manages: Residential Managers

Main Purpose of the Job:

To ensure the highest possible standards are maintained throughout all the residential areas of the college alongside the current Head of Health, Care and Support. To hold Registration with the Care Quality Commission for off-campus registered College accommodation, and to ensure the efficient re-provision of Elizabeth House. To meet regulation requirements and to enable the students experience of college, to be safe and to ensure that individual staff and students are able to achieve their potential.

Primary Tasks:

4.1 To ensure that the service is provided to the highest standards in line with the departmental objectives and developed in line with strategic plan.

4.2 All registered accommodation to be maintained at a good or outstanding standard.

4.3To support the development and operations of out of term time provision.

4.4Work with the college admissions team, to ensure that student requirements can be met efficiently and safely.

4.5Ensure that the transition into and from college matches students requirements.

4.6To support the investigation of safeguarding issues and take action where appropriate in liaison with the college Safeguarding Officer.

4.7Line manages residential managers, ensuring effective communication and timely appraisal and supervision in line with college policies.

4.8To work with the college Operational Leadership team and other key staff to continuously improve quality, develop provision and services and effectively manage change to meet internal and external college requirements.

4.9To support planning of the service ensuring efficient and cost effective deployment of staff and other resources.

4.10To contribute to the college Self-Assessment and Provider Complianceprocesses.

4.11Ensure that staff are equipped with the skills to empower and support students to achieve their potential during their time at college.

4.12To undertake risk assessments and implement procedures to manage risks appropriately.

4.13To support the residential managers in the recruitment, deployment and management of staff.

4.14Monitor and manage expenditure within areas of responsibility.

4.15Deputise for the Director of Health, Care and Support when required and when within the scope of competence and to undertake any other duties commensurate with the job role.

4.16Through personal example, and clear action demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity ensuring equality of access and treatment in employment and service delivery to all.

4.17Promote the College’s Health and Safety at Work policy and procedures and ensure these are implemented effectively within the department and any issues are dealt with in a timely manner.

ATTRIBUTE / ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Qualifications / Relevant qualification at Level 4 in a care related field (for example nursing, occupational therapy, social work, care)
Registered managers award or additional management qualification to level 4 / Management qualification at level 5
CTTLS/DTTLS teaching qualification
Nursing qualification
Experience / Minimum 3 years experience in care or health service delivery
Minimum of 2 years management experience which includes staff management, operational planning leadership and management of teams.
Experience of working with people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties or acquired brain injuries. / Experience working with behaviour that challenges.
Experience of working in an educational setting
Skills/knowledge / Good level of verbal and written communication skills and analytical skills.
Good organisational and planning skills
Ability to motivate staff.
Well-developed presentation skills.
Problem solving skills. Self-reliance.
Adaptability.
Excellent knowledge of the requirements from the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
Implementing and monitoring quality standards.
Experience of managing budgets / I.T. skills.
