Job Title: Ethnic Minority Environment Network Development Officer
Hours of Work: Part-time (21 hours per week)
Salary: Starting £24,000PA (£12,600 pro-rata) + 4% pension
Length of Contract: 2 Years Fixed Term (to 31st March 2017)
Office Base: Glasgow (though travel around Scotland is required)
Main Objectives of the job
To develop, support and establish a national Ethnic Minority (EM) Environmental Network that will be a voice for EM communities, and help facilitate its participation in decision making processes and policy development around climate change.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
1. To develop, support and build the capacity of a national EM Environmental Network (EMEN) that will become an EM voice in environmental decision making and policy development processes
2. To organize, plan, and facilitate 4 EMEN meetings per year
3. To help identify, develop and provide training for potential leaders within the Network who will represent the interests of the EMEN at local and national policy tables and decision making processes
4. To organize 2 workshops each year to help increase awareness and understanding of EMEN members of climate change issues
5. To organize 2 stakeholder events per year that will help facilitate dialogue and engagement between the EMEN and key climate change stakeholders / decision makers at local and national levels
6. To develop and implement monitoring and evaluation processes that will ensure the successful achievement of EMEN outcomes
7. To draft quarterly and end of year reports as required by the funder
8. To provide regular reports to the Chief Executive when requested
9. To continually increase own awareness and knowledge of race equality issues, including current legislation, policies and practices

Person Specification
Essential
· Extensive knowledge and understanding of environmental issues
· Good knowledge / networks with key environmental stakeholders / decision makers – e.g. Scottish Government, SEPA, Local Authority, etc
· Experience in developing networks and / or community development
· Good understanding of race equality, including issues affecting the ethnic minority voluntary sector / communities
· Ability to build rapport and trust with communities and individuals, particularly with those of ethnic minority backgrounds
· Skills / experience in organizing training / awareness raising / community engagement events
· Excellent communication, inter-personal and presentation skills
· Good report writing skills
· Good project management skills, including experience in monitoring and recording successful outcomes
· Good organisational and planning skills, including ability to plan own work load
· Ability to travel throughout Scotland
Desirable
· Strong leadership development skills
· Ability to work with young people
