Purpose of job:

The purpose of this role is to facilitate and give support to the marketing and development team for the effective and efficient delivery of ourcorporate initiatives and activities.

  • Provide administrative support across the marketing and development team, supporting on and offline communications, events, community fundraising, corporate and individual giving.
  • To support the department and the delivery of an excellent standard of supporter care.
  • To support the Director of Marketing and Development and the Head of Fundraising with PA and administration support.

Job context:

Fight for Sight is the UK’s leading eye research charity. Our research programmes are currently developing ways we can better diagnose, prevent, and treat eye conditions such as glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease, childhood blindness and rare inherited eye disease. Fight for Sight is currently funding 152 research projects at 43 universities and hospitals with a total commitment of £8.0m.

Key Internal Relationships: Director of Marketing and Development, Head of Fundraising, the communications and marketing team, all fundraising staff.

Key External Relationships: Donors and supporters.

Role and Responsibilities:

Fundraising

  • To support the team in providing excellent supporter care to our fundraisers, small corporate partners and donors, both on the phone and in writing.
  • To set up and maintain accurate and up to date records for supporters and their fundraising, and to work with the Database Officer to ensure best use is made of the database.
  • To support the individual giving team with the receipt and acknowledgement of donations, particularly during appeals.
  • To provide support with the delivery of Fight for Sight events including preparing equipment and materials and overseeing and managing event volunteers. This will involve some out of hours work.
  • To send out fundraising support materials, ensuring stock levels are accurately monitored and maintained
  • To manage third party sponsorship websites, e.g. JustGiving, creating reports, coding and recording income and liaising with the finance and data teams to ensure the accuracy of data and reporting.
  • Support the fundraising team with other financial administration where appropriate, including the processing and recording of invoices.
  • To provide administrative support for the allocation of collection tins and their management with supporters, including finding new opportunities and areas for collection can development.
  • To support the team with general office administration tasks
  • To maintain up to date office procedures documents as directed

Marketing and Communications

  • To support the marketing and communications team with the production of materials, and external communications as required.
  • To make updates to the websites as directed.
  • To support the upload and management of digital content
  • To support social media activity
  • To support the gathering and maintaining of supporter stories
  • To support the marketing of fundraising activities as required

PA support

  • To oversee the diary management of the Director of Marketing and Development and the Head of Fundraising.
  • To support the collation and distribution of committee papers to the Marketing and Fundraising Committee (quarterly) as per instruction by the Director.
