17.  / Remove instruments from tray and sort / Don't dump the instruments out in a pile. Sort into groups of like instruments as you remove them from the tray.
18.  / Inspect all instruments according to their proper function as you assemble the set according to directions on the count sheet. Number each line item to insure a proper count / Black pen is preferred.
19.  / While assembling, flush all lumens or cannulated items with distilled water / The squirt bottle should be filled with distilled water at the beginning of each shift and kept at the workstation. / Follow up flush with air blast. Finish procedure by adding one or two drops of water to facilitate sterilization.
20.  / Check Scissors with Theraband.
Use instrument lubricant (milk) as needed. / Red Theraband for heavy, yellow for delicate / Do not rinse after milk is added…wipe off excess
21.  / Gauze, towels, or disposable materials must be placed on top of instruments / Extras found in store room / Check comments on count sheet.
22.  / If assembled on a mayo tray: cover with pillowcase and tape edges down with white steam tape. / Pillowcases are in linen cabinet / Use tape with courtesy tabs on pillowcase, for easier removal later.
23.  / Bowls or cups included on the count sheet must be placed into tray upside down. / Bowls or cups on mayo trays must be right side up.
24.  / Get any missing item (or replacement for not functioning) from cabinets and replace / If unable to replace, follow “Modify missing” protocol.
25.  / Reach for integrator appropriate for sterilizing method. / Extras found in store room / Steam, ETO, or Sterrad verified on count sheet.
26.  / Place integrator in bottom of tray
27.  / Fold the count sheet, ink side in
28.  / Reach for a Steriking bag / Extras found in store room
29.  / Place the folded count sheet into the bag
30.  / Place the bag on top of instruments / Leave out of set and tape to outside if Sterrad.
31.  / Reach for tray liner / Extras are in outside hall / DO NOT USE TRAY LINERS FOR STERRAD, USE FOLDED SINGLE WRAPS INSTEAD

33.  / Move the tray off to the side of the work table to make room for wrap
34.  / Walk to wrap rack
35.  / Select appropriate size wrap / Extras are in outside hall / 1-Step dark blue for large items or sets, Single light blue for small items

37.  / Lay wrap open on center of work table
38.  / Pick up a liner
39.  / Place the liner length-wise where one long edge of the tray will sit

41.  / Place the liner length-wise where the other long edge of the tray will sit
