JOB DESCRIPTION for Age Friendly Community Coordinator

Summary: The Age Friendly Community coordinator will aim to oversee, promote and encourage implementation of the Age Friendly Community Plan (AFCP) in order to create a supportive, welcoming and vibrant environment for older adults. This person will work collaboratively with the Age Friendly Committee (AFC) and community.

Project Work Plan (from CBT grant application):

May Organize meetings with the AFC and all other interested parties - 1st AFC meeting is on May 20, 1:15pm at the museum

June Begin implementation of the Age Friendly Community Plan (AFCP); promote the awareness of the plan and initiatives to the community and stakeholder groups

Ongoing Research additional funding sources to continue the Age Friendly project and coordination position

November Assess effectiveness of initiatives carried out, make adjustments, and report to the community and stakeholders

January 8 ‘16 Write a final report for the CBT grant

Overall Duties

·  Oversee, promote and encourage implementation of the AFCP in consultation with AFC

o  develop an action plan to determine which priorities in the AFCP to address first (See “Updated AFCP Action Plan” - started in January; needs to be reviewed and prioritized)

·  Research and apply for grants to:

o  sustain the coordinator's position

o  ensure the goals of the Age Friendly Committee and plan are met

Communications

·  Organize and facilitate presentations, meetings, events and web-based interface to increase public awareness of initiatives, communicate progress and engage stakeholders

·  Report the work you did each month to the AFC

·  Participate in relevant community meetings

Evaluation

·  Identify indicators and develop tools for measuring progression of community actions that contribute to the advancement of age-friendly factors

Administrative Duties

·  Review CBT CIP funding documents such as the “Project Application” and “Letter of Agreement” to understand project goals, timelines, budget, guidelines for reporting to CBT, etc.

·  Write reports to funders (e.g. CBT – see “CBT 2015 Project: Final Report”)

·  Complete financial record keeping and transactions of funds according to GCRS policies and procedures

·  Submit a timesheet to GCRS each month to receive payment ($25 per hour, 15 hours per week, 38 weeks in total, 11% MERCS will be included)

·  Provide support where needed to advance the objectives and goals of AF Golden
