JOB DESCRIPTION – CEO AmCham Bulgaria

Summary:

Under the overall supervision of AmCham Board of Directors, CEO is responsible for day-to-day management of Chamber’s activities, services and employees, including substantive and administrative matters.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide effective communication and represent AmCham on behalf of its members with the Republic of Bulgaria national and local government and authorities, US Embassy, international business and diplomatic community in Bulgaria, wider business community, NGOs, AmCham network worldwide, etc.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive AmCham strategy in coordination with AmCham Board of Directors and aligned with AmCham’s bylaws, values and mission
  • Develop an AmCham advocacy agenda based on consultation with members and external parties. Maintain strategic alliances with national and international organizations operating in the country.
  • Develop an annual AmCham Public Relations/Communications strategy and oversee its implementation. Serve as media contact in order to enhance AmCham’s image. Ensure effective communication and relevant contents of publications. Oversee and drive the edition of Amcham own publications – weekly bulletin, year book, Amcham Magazine, website, etc.
  • Ensure timely preparation and compilation of Chamber’s Annual/Quarterly Work Plans and their submission to AmCham Board for approval. Prepare monthly reports for the AmCham Board on the Chamber’s key activities, issues and required action points. Implement other tasks, as assigned by the Board of Directors.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of AmCham committees. Еnsurе continued improvement of planning and execution of events calendar
  • Actively maintain the existing membership and recruit new members
  • Develop AmCham’s budget and oversee its accurate implementation, including monthly financial reports
  • Protect AmCham assets and reputation.
  • Ensure integrity of financial statements and accounts.
  • Own AmCham’s P&L, [balance sheet/cash flow].
  • Select, appoint, support and monitor the performance of AmCham’s staff & employees.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in business, NGO or government organizations
  • Advanced university degree in Business, Economics, or Foreign Affairs
  • Proven experience working in service to a broad range of clients and stakeholders
  • Experience with government institutions and political parties
  • Proven skills in public speaking and addressing media
  • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Highly developed leadership skills including ability to inspire, encourage and build trust
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships with numerous stakeholders and members
  • Charisma, drive and motivation to convince and engage others
  • Patience, diplomatic skills and flexibility
  • Ability to think beyond traditional modes and to be innovative in seeking solutions to complex operational and logistical challenges
  • US exposure
  • Fluent English and Bulgarian languages
