INFORMATION ITEMS:
Brad Parker will be submitting forms to the next meeting for minor changes to ASE-Automotive Service Technology courses which are reviewed and updated every 3 years. These are mostly one word verbiage changes to course descriptions changing the word “automobile” to “vehicle” to clarify that the courses can pertain to all types of “vehicles” – automobiles, diesel vehicles, motorcycles, RV’s, ATV’s, etc.

Statewide Faculty Advisory Council (SFAC):

Carol Kuper will send out minutes from SFAC via email.

STATE FACULTY CURRICULUM COMMITTEE REPORT (SFCC):

Carol Kuper attended the last SFFC meeting. The committee decided that if a college submits a curriculum change to them, a college representative must be at the meeting to present the change or the committee will table the item.

The Professional Development 2+2 will be split into two meetings next year – one in the Fall and one in the Spring to accommodate the size of the meetings, better facilitate communication, and for cost effectiveness.

OTHER:
The system is continuing to solicit feedback from all colleges on their philosophy of what courses should (and should not) be considered GT along with college feelings about the meaning and purpose of GT Pathways.

Carol Kuper will send out another request to get MCC faculty feedback on this issue to give to Betty and SFCC.

MEETING DATES:

Curriculum Committee will meet the 2nd Thursday of each month at 4:00-4:45 p.m. for Spring term 2009. Meetings are being moved from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. to accommodate faculty who have classes until 3:50 p.m.

The requirement that paperwork be submitted electronically by the Division Chairs to the meeting Chairperson one week prior to the meeting is making it possible for the meetings to be shorter and quicker due to advanced review and correction of materials.

NEXT MEETING:Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 4:00-4:15 in COTTO 100.

(Regular meetings are held at 4:00 the second Thursday of each month.)
