Severe Weather Net. My name is name.This Net is sponsored by the Scott County Amateur Radio Club, the Scott County ARES Team, and the Scott County SKYWARN Team.
During, and in anticipation of, severe weather, the Scott County Weather Net activates on the Pelahatchie Repeater which has a frequency of 145.390 with a 77 Hz tone. The purpose of the net is to receive and disseminate weather reports and local conditions to the Ham Radio community in ScottCounty and to forward pertinent Storm Spotter information to the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Jackson.

All amateurs living in ScottCounty and surrounding areas are welcome to check in to the net to report severe weather conditions and damage in their area, and to request information about impending weather conditions in their area. You do not have to be a member of the Scott County SKYWARN Team to participate.

Specific, routine reports are requested on sightings of hail, wind damage, funnel clouds, tornadoes and flooding. Additional information may be requested as needed. All stations are encouraged to participate.

Amateur stations wishing to check in may do so now by giving your call sign phonetically, your name and your location.

  • Hail (by size) Penny, Quarter, Half Dollar, Walnut, Golfball, Baseball or larger
  • Wind Damage
  • Funnel Clouds
  • Tornado on the ground
  • Flooding

Station Closing Script

At this time National Weather Service personnel have informed us, that the weather situation in ScottCountyand surrounding areas has decreased in severity. With that in mind, we will begin securing Scott County Weather Net and Scott County SKYWARN operations.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Jeff, W5PPB for the use of the repeater.

We would also like to thank all Amateur Radio spotters and support stations in the field for making the Scott County Weather Net a source of valuable information to the towns and communities in and around Scott County and to the National Weather Service.
