Jack Petchey Leader Awards

Ø  Award is designed for young people to thank and celebrate the adults who have supported them

Ø  We can apply for one Leader Award every calendar year once we have been running the scheme successfully for 12 months – which we have

Ø  We have potentially 11 awards to distribute

Ø  A nominee must have been involved in guiding for at least 2 years

Ø  Be over 21 years old

Ø  Have demonstrated in an outstanding way, an ability to encourage and motivate young people aged 11 – 25 within GLK

Ø  Nominations to be in by 1st July ready for Phyl to submit during the following week

Ø  Award winners can only receive the award once during their working time for GLK

Ø  The applications must be made by the JP Co-ordinator (me) and supported by a second individual who is willing to give their contact details.

Ø  Successful award winners will be invited to the presentation in October

If we have continued to run the scheme successfully and continue to do so by submitting all reports on time, we will be eligible for the following

ü  Each successful award winner can apply from a ‘Small Grant Fund’. Rounds always open in the Spring and Autumn) Each leader can receive one Small Grant –If they are unsuccessful in the 1st round then they can apply in the next one. If they do not apply in the next round then the opportunity is lost.

ü  Be prepared to write a brief report on their project, activity or event within 12 months of the grant being paid.

The project, activity or event they want to fund must fulfil the following:

v  The maximum grant available is now £750 – there is no minimum value

v  The total project cost must not exceed £5,000

v  It must be good value for money

v  It must benefit a group of young people (not just an individual)

v  It must help young people most in need of JPF support

v  The project must be completed within 12 months of funding being awarded

v  Groups who raise a contribution to the project costs themselves will be assessed more favourably.

It will not fund

o  Incomplete applications

o  Projects where the total project cost exceeds £5000

o  Applications for projects where statutory provisions have been made
