STANDARD OPERATING GUIDELINES
SUBJECT: Engine Responses – Guidelines and Procedures
Author: Date:
Reviewed: Date:
Introduction:
With the constant growth of the district, and the constant confusion of which station responds to bordering incidents, we needed come up with a guideline to follow. When our matrix was originally written we weren’t able to staff both stations so there are times when both engines are dispatched to a single engine call. This guideline was developed to help eliminate these issues and to aid the Company Officers in reducing the number of units responding code 3 when possible. The exception to the
Guide:
These guidelines are structured for when both engines are in quarters at their own station. If engine 31 is out on a call between the hrs of 0600 to 1800 engine 29 will cover the district from station 31. Also if one engine is on a call, the other will respond on any other calls that happen in the district. If an engine is out of district on a incident, then all other mutual aid requests and immediate need strike team requests will be turned down unless both stations have been re-staffed with Cordelia personnel.
Still alarms:
These are single engine responses and if both engines are dispatched, only the First Due engine for the call will respond unless additional resources are requested by that engine or the Duty Chief.
Station 31:
Is the first due engine for all freeway auto aid calls on I80, 680, and Hwy12.
E31 will respond to all incidents on the 680 from I80 to Lake Herman including all incidents defined in the auto aid agreement.
On East bound I80 E31 will respond to any incident in their first due or within the boundaries of the auto aid agreement from American Canyon to West Texas.
On the West bound side of I80 E31 will respond to any incident that would fall under the auto aid agreement or with in their first due from Green Valley to American Canyon.
E31 will respond to all incidents on HWY12 up to the county line and may cross the line if requested by Napa County.
The cut offs for Station 31 will be Reservoir LN on the Green Valley side and any thing up to the south side of Rockville off of Suisun Valley RD.
Station 31 will take any mutual aid requests south or west of the district.
In the event that Station 31 is ALS and Station 29 is not, Willotta DR will be a engine 31 response even though its in Station 29’s first due.
Station 29:
Responds to all calls north of Rockville RD on the Suisun Valley RD side and everything north of Reservoir RD on the Green Valley RD side.
Station 29 will respond to Hwy 12 when Napa Fire is not responding Auto/Mutual Aid.
Station 29 will respond to any Vehicle accidents in the district that will require an Air ambulance to establish a LZ.
Station 29 will not respond to any incidents on the freeway that fall under Auto/Mutual Aid unless requested by Captain 31 or the Duty Chief.
Station 29 will take any mutual aid requests north and east of the district unless E31, B31/Type3, or WT31 are specifically requested.
AN EXCEPTION TO THE ABOVE GUIDE THAT WILL EVENTUALLY TRANSITION INTO A POLICY IS THAT WHEN THERE IS A PARAMEDIC ON DUTY, THEN THAT ENGINE COMPANY WILL REMAIN AVAILABLE IN THE DISTRICT. IF THE MEDIC IS AT STATION 31, THEN STATION 29 SHALL START TOWARDS STATION 31 WHEN IT IS ANTICIPATED THERE WILL BE A MUTUAL-AID CALL IN THE COUNTY REQUIRING AN ENGINE FROM CORDELIA. IN ADDITION ONCE A PIECE OF EQUIPMENT LEAVES THE DISTRICT AND SOLANO COUNTY FIRE AGENCIES DO NOT HAVE A MOVE UP AND COVER POILICY FOR ALL THE AGENCIES, THE CORDELIA FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT WILL NOT SEND A SECOND PIECE OF EQUIPMENT, LEAVING THE FIRE DISTRICT UNCOVERED.
