AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE SALARY AND COMPENSATION FOR THE OFFICE OF MAYOR OF THE CITY OF OLMSTED FALLS COMMENCING JANUARY 1, 2018 AND THEREAFTER.

WHEREAS, the last time the annual salary for the Office of Mayor for the City of Olmsted Falls was addressed was in March, 2001; and

WHEREAS, the annual salary for the Office of Mayor of the City must be set at least ninety (90) days prior to the date of the filing deadline for the filing of Nominating Petitions related to the election for said office; and

WHEREAS, over the past 15 years, the work load of the Mayor has increased where it is appropriate to provide for an increase in compensation for the duties for said position; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to Codified Ordinance Section 230.03, the compensation for the full time position of Mayor is to be established by Council from time to time and Council desires hereby to set the compensation for the Office of Mayor. Now therefore,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF OLMSTED FALLS, CUYAHOGA COUNTY, OHIO, THAT:

SECTION 1. Pursuant to Codified Ordinance Section 230.03(d), this Council hereby establishes the annual salary for the Office of Mayor of the City of Olmsted Falls commencing January 1, 2018 at Eighty Thousand Dollars ($80,000), per year, payable in equal semi-monthly installments (or in accordance with the payroll schedule for other city employees).

SECTION 2. That in addition to the foregoing annual salary, the Mayor shall be entitled to those benefits identified in Section 230.03(d), and all other benefits generally afforded to full time non-union City employees.

SECTION 3. Commencing on January 1, 2019 and annually thereafter, the annual compensation for the Office of Mayor of the City of Olmsted Falls shall be increased on January 1 of the succeeding year by two percent (2%) of the immediately preceding year’s annual salary for such elected position of the Office of Mayor.

SECTION 4. All prior legislation inconsistent with this Ordinance in whole or in part is hereby repealed to the extent necessary to avoid conflict with this Ordinance and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

SECTION 5. Council finds and determines that all formal actions of this Council relating to the adoption of this Ordinance have been taken at open meetings of this Council; and that deliberations of this Council and of its committees, resulting in such formal action, took place in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all statutory requirements including the requirements of Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code.

SECTION 6. This Ordinance shall take effect at the earliest time allowed by law.
