International Peer Leader Contract

I ______, Student ID:______understand and agree to the following terms and conditions:

  1. AUC orientation programs (International Orientation, ALI, Graduate students) are one of the university’s most important events designed as an introduction process to welcome students who choose to attend AUC and familiarize them to the AUC community academic standards, culture and Code of Community Standards. AUC expects its orientation programs to be efficiently implemented at a very high standard.
  2. I am a representative of AUC and Egypt and a critical participant in AUC’s orientation programs. I recognize that as a representative of AUC (at on-campus and off-campus activities), I should maintain a proper behavior and act in accordance with AUC Rules and Regulations.
  3. I am fully responsible to abide by and familiarize myself with AUC Code of Community Standards. I understand that exhibiting any action that is in violation to AUC Code of Community Standards will result in a disciplinary action based on the appropriate adjudication processes stipulated in the Code (Please refer to the Code of Community Standards)
  4. I commit to comply with Title IX and refrain from discriminating against any person and will respect all individuals of different race, nationality, religion, age, sex, or disability.
  5. I will fulfill all time commitments required by the program for training and preparation, program implementation during all orientation days for AY 2017-2018 (Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer) and program continuation during different semesters.
  6. I will remain open to learning new leadership and communication skills and will receive constructive criticism with a positive attitude.
  7. IPLs performance is evaluated by ISL staff and Upper Board on a regular basis (during orientation, outings, trips, and activities).
  8. IPLs are contracted to serve as volunteers to assist with the adjustment of the international students. In that role, it is expected that IPLs maintain strictly professional relationships with the constituency they serve and ISL Staff. In the event of receiving information or witnessing signs of an inappropriate relationship between an IPL member and an individual from the target population, the IPL member may be dismissed for neglect of duty. The decision will be made under the direct supervision of the ISL Director.
  9. CONFIDENTIALITY- In the course of their work, IPLs may have access to sensitive information. It is imperative that IPLs maintain confidentiality; any misuse of information will result in dismissal from IPL position.
  10. The ISL is committed to issuing recommendation letters or certificates outlining the efforts and role of the IPL according to his or her contribution.
  11. ISL will cover accommodation for IPLs designated to participate in ISL trips for International Students on double/triple room basis.
  12. ISL will cover accommodation expenses related to IPL trainings.
  13. Each semester is separate and distinct in terms of recruitment criteria and/or process.
  14. I understand that receipt of two warnings and failure to demonstrate/sustain high level of performance may result in my dismissal. Dismissal is final and will not to be discussed with the International Committee or ISL staff.
  15. I understand that receipt of one warning given by assigned ISL staff due to poor performance and/or lack of participation will result in my dismissal.
  16. This contract is renewable every semester; failure to sign this contract within the timeframe stated by the Office will result in your immediate dismissal from the committee after two weeks from the beginning of the semester.
