INTER SERVICES HOCKEY TOURNAMENT 2015– HMS TEMERAIRE Portsmouth 10– 11 MAR 15

GENERAL

1.The Royal Navy Hockey Association (RNHA) will host the 2015 Inter Services Hockey Tournament in Portsmouth. This tournament will be a two day event using both artificial turf pitches at HMS Temeraire.

2.The outline programme is at Annex A.

3.All matches will be played at the home of Royal Navy Hockey at Burnaby Road, Portsmouth. The postcode for this is PO1 2HB.

4.Accommodation in the Portsmouth area is extremely limited and cannot be booked more than 2 weeks in advance iaw 2011DIN01-002. It is therefore advised that single service representatives make their own accommodation arrangements. Single Service reps should telephone the Secretary of Navy Hockey on 9380 28037or 07778 854012 for accommodation contact details.

NOTIFICATION AND ELIGIBILITY

5.The TD for the tournament is Mr Chris Todd. Those responsible for managing the 15 teams, the Umpires, Officials and Hon Sec CSHA (for senior VIPs/Officials) are requested to liaise closely with the Sec RNHA, with a completed form as per Annex E as soon as possible and no later than the 27 Feb 15. A list that is partly correct on time is easier to modify than the management of a late submission.

6.For clarity, age eligibility for the tournament is taken as follows:

a.Masters-Over 35 on the day of the match and where the team age average must never fall below 440 years on the pitch.

b.U25 Men-Age U25on day one of the Tournament.

MEALS AND REFRESHMENTS

7. The Sportsman’s Arms will be open for the duration of the tournament providing snacks and refreshments for both players and supporters. Team managers are invited to contact Mr Ross Puddephatt at The Sportsman’s on 07581083320 to arrange team meals that must be paid for at the time they are taken. At least 1 weeks notice is required.

SOCIAL ARRANGMENTS

8.No specific social arrangements are being planned.

CAR PARKING

9.Car parking will be extremely limited. Use of Team Minibuses should be the norm. Even 15 Team Minibuses will present a problem and arrangements for such vehicles should be made to drop off personnel and park inside the Naval Base. Overflow Car Parking will be in the Tennis Centre opposite HMS Temeraire main gate, all users must draw a pass from the Tennis centre before entering HMS Temeraire.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS

10.In addition to Annex A, an itinerary listing the main activities is at Annex B. Other important details are:

a.Briefings. Briefings for team managers will be given by the TD at 0800hrs

10 Mar 15 in the Sportsman’s Arms. The TD will then brief the Umpires and Officials at 0845hrs. The TD may send out his brief electronically to the team managers before the Tournament, if this happens the manager’s brief will be cancelled.

b.Tournament Rules.The tournament rules are contained in Annex G of the

CHSA Constitution. All matches will be 35 minutes each way. (Each match on the

first day needs to produce a loser and a winner. (By a formula to be decided and

briefed by the TD).

c.Changing Rooms Officials, Umpires & Players.Changing rooms will be allocated by Sec RNHA. The Umpires and Officials will use the designated changing rooms. The Tournament Director will have the use of one changing room as an office and the usual TD corner in the Sportsman’s Arms. Note: There will be no bags allowed in the bar. Teams should make arrangements to lock kit in their allocated changing rooms.

d.Trophies. A list of current trophy holders is at Annex C. Single Service

Secretaries are requested to ensure trophies are delivered to the SecRNHA cleaned

and engraved please; on or before 10Mar 15. Individual trophies will be

presented (to a maximum number of 18 players and maximum 4 team

management, total 22) to winning teams. The criteria for awarding Player of

the Tournament for the 5 competitions is in the Tournament rules. Chairman RNHA

is requested to co-ordinate this.

e.Match balls. 3 match balls should be provided by each participating team.

f.Team Photographs.Provision has been made for team photographs prior to

each teams first match. Lt Col (Retd) Charles Jackman will be the tournament

photographer. See Annex B for timings.

g.Spectators. All spectators should remain outside of the pitch fences.

h.Physiotherapy First Aid. There will be a number of sports injury students at

the tournament. They are here to gain experience. It is hoped a doctor will be on

site. Ice will be available on each pitch. Teams must provide their own first aid

kit. In an emergency call 999. Queen Alexander A & E normally takes no more than 10minutes to have an ambulance on site.

i.Tournament Officials. Mr Chris Todd has agreed to be the Tournament

Director (TD). TD will appoint 3 Technical Officers (TO). Single

Services are invited to contact TD with suitable experienced TO’s and Officials

on 07708 265388. Other requirements are as follows:

(i) Judges/Timekeepers Single Service Secretaries are requested to provide two officials per service. Names and contact details to Chris

on the number above.

(ii) Umpires CSHUA Appointment Secretary is requested to advise the

TD and Sec RNHA of names and contact numbers of Umpire appointments

as soon as possible.

  1. Scoreboards Sec RNHA will provide scoreboards at both pitches.

k.Tournament Notices The location of the Tournament notice board will be given

at the TD’s briefing.

  1. Press/Media Details of the Tournament will be communicated to local press and

media. Single Service secretaries and Sec CSHA are encouraged to invite press and media. However please keep the TD and Sec RNHA informed.

OTHER EVENTS

12.The Annual General Meeting of CSHA will be held in the Sports Lottery accommodation, HMS Temeraire, Burnaby Rd 0830-1030 10 Mar 14. Tea and Coffee facilities will be available. Again parking will be very limited.

13.Presentations will take place after the final two matches finish. It is anticipated the location will be inside the Sportsman’s Arms. The planned time for the presentations will be 1745hrs. There will be a maximum of 22 individual trophies for each of the five winning teams, plus a permanent keepsake for the five players of the Tournament.
