IAMC GOALS

Develop plans to increase IAMC presence. Increase our membership, by promoting IAMC through more multicultural outreach activities. Continue reaching out to new counselors and incorporate more student involvement. Reconnect with non-active members. Recruit more student members to develop some concrete plans via a stronger and more visible division.

Division activities and projects during the last three months:

March

SHADES, IAMC Newsletter released and disseminated to membership. This issue included new member participation via lay-out and article submission.

April

Current president, Linda Brown-Jackson hosted a Meet and Greet on the Southwest Side of Chicago at a Friday Night, Jazz venue with an all you can eat Sea Food Buffet. Several persons in attendance, but most interestingly we meet a school counselor that we tried to recruit for the ICA.

President-Elect, Kasia Wereszcynska hosted a Meet and Greet on the Northwest Side of Chicago. This is the first year IAMC has reached its goal of providing membership activity on both sides of town.

Selection Committee for conference proposals included two new participating members working on the review or submissions and selection process.

May

Social Justices Perspectives: The Impact of Violence and Aggression in Our Communities, theme for the Annual Spring Conference held May 20th at Argosy in partnership with Dr. Gary Koch. Key note speaker, Dr. Edil Torres Rivera from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology received raved reviews. The number of attendees was very good. Several attendees shared high remarks about the conference content/subjects and presenters. Student involvement number somewhere between 10-12 with most being doctoral students attending Argosy, one all the way from Bradley University and several student presenters with licensure at the masters level.
