IFFR Fly-In at Lee EGHF.

Useful names and phone numbers.

I shall say this only once. This is our first fly in since we have had the new regime, where the Police manage the Airfield it is important that you read the airfield instructions, which is an abbreviation of the airfield manual, that can be found and downloaded off the EGHF website first click on to airfield, then visitorsthen in the middle of the third paragraph you will find Aerodrome Manualclick on it, then,Power Pilots Guide to Operating at Daedalus, which will open a PDF file, I suggest that you print it off. I know there are 12 pages but be sure you have read and understand them, the last two sheets will give you the airfield plate, we cannot afford to make any mistakes. As gliding will be in operation doing Winch launches off the grass and Combination aero toe launches from the runway, so be aware when on base leg there is a chance you will have a glider coming towards you from the opposite direction he should be landing on the grass, if you're on 23 it will be grass left, if you are on 05 it will be grass right. The beginning of the runway, i.e. launch point is reserved for the gliders, if you look carefully you will see a pair of white cones on either side of the runway about 100 yards or so from the start. You are to land beyond these white cones and also to taxi past them before taking off. Before coming in to Lee you will need to have crown indemnity insurance. Please send me a copy of your insurance certificate in good time before you arrive these will be given to Police Ops in the Tower so that they know who is arriving and that you have got insurance cover, as this is something the police insist on. Don't ask me why I don't make the rules. We have been trying to get rid of this one for a while now; it has been left over from when it was an MOD airfield. I would also like you to give me a call the day before to confirm that you are coming, number below, if you are not going to be able to make it due to weather etc, on the day please will you call me on my mobile, The Tower that I talk about is where the police Ops operate from, although we don't normally talk to them, as you, will be talking to the gliding club launch point. On arrival at Lee on Solent Airfield. EGHF. the call is, Lee. Radio,118.925,

When approaching from the south of the airfield, which is runway, 05. Everything to the west of the runway is power. Everything to the east is designated as gliding territory, don't go there.
