I received payment from British Petroleum for two sets of meetings that constituted brief consultancies (in London, UK 2001 and Cape Town, South Africa 2001) regarding political developments and political risk in Africa.

(7)Briefly describe the most controversial matters you have been involved with during the course of your career.

I was the junior NSC staffer responsible for the UN and peacekeeping during the Rwandan genocide in 1994, and there have been some false public accounts of my role in US policy-making on this issue.

U.S. policy towards Sudan (1995-2000). During which period we sought to increase pressure on Sudan to halt its support for terrorism, its war in the South, use of starvation as a weapon against civilians, continued practice of slavery and religious persecution and efforts to destabilize it neighbors,

U.S. efforts to help resolve the civil war in Sierra Leone in the late 1990s. Though my personal role was minimal, there were some who took issue with US policy at the time.

The (mis)perceived policy of US support for “new African leaders”, many of whom subsequently became embroiled in conflict with one another.

My husband and I are trustees of our charitable foundation, the Rice-Cameron Family Foundation. We have been trustees since its inception in November 2006.

No. However, in 2002, we filed amended tax returns for the tax years 1993-2000. Our original returns inadvertently omitted Form 8621 – Return by a Shareholder of a Passive Foreign Investment Company or Qualified Electing Fund. At the time of our original filing our accountant was unaware of filing requirements for a PFC. A subsequent accountant identified the error. We notified the IRS voluntarily and submitted amended returns. The IRS charged us and we paid interest on taxes owed.
