Confidential Transcriber

Queen Mary, University of London, in association with Dundalk Institute of Technology and Trinity College Dublin, has recently embarked on a major inter-jurisdictional project on the Peace Process funded by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme and led by Professor Seán McConville and Dr Anna Bryson.

We seek to appoint an hourly paidConfidential Transcriber (rate: £16 / €18 per hour).

The successful candidate must be willing to commit an initial block of 200 hours to assist with the transcription of heritage interviews within the next three months. Further assistance may be required, subject to satisfactory performance and budget approval.

Core Skills, Abilities & Experience Required:

  • Extensive experience of transcribing of preferably confidential material
  • Computer literate: experience using Microsoft Word, Excel or similar database
  • Excellent organisational skills, a methodical approach and strict attention to detail
  • Ability to work unsupervised on own initiative and to plan workloads, balancing conflicting priorities of team members and ensuring that project deadlines are maintained and met
  • Eligibility to work in Ireland & UK (work can be done remotely but some initial training at Trinity College will be required)
  • Willingness to submit to all procedures necessary for appropriate security clearance
  • Mature judgment & willingness to maintain a discreet & responsible attitude to all matters affecting the project.

Timescale

We hope to appoint a Confidential Transcriber by the 1st December and to work with them as necessary for the duration of the interviewing period of the project, subject to satisfactory performance and budget approval.
