New Member Information
Welcome!
CMO welcomes new players of all ages and abilities and we hope very much that you enjoy training and playing with us over the coming months.
Please complete a membership form so that we can include your details within the club contact list and can affiliate you with England Netball. Your affiliation provides you with insurance which is required to play within the Croydon Netball League in case you cause injury to another player or damage to property whilst playing for CMO’s.
Membership Fees
We will only charge membership fees once you are sure you wish to join the club. Please feel free to come to training a few times to get to know us and test your ability, and then if you wish to join, fees will be as follows:
Seniors£240 for the year
or £20 per month until July 2016
Juniors£125 for the year
or £25 for September and £10 per month until July 2015
Special£4 per match (for those who cannot attend training)
Affiliation£30 flat rate
- Senior rate applies to those over 18 in full time employment.
- Junior rate applies to those under 18, in full time education or out of work
- Special rate applies where agreed for those unable to play each week, long term injury, etc.
- Affiliation applies to every player and must be paid in August. Players who cannot play every week and cannot attend training need to still pay their affiliation and then move on to the special rate.
Training
We currently train at Royal Russell school on Thursdays from 7.30-9.00 pm outdoors.
Senior Matches
At the start of each season, we organise a squad selection, and elected a selection committee to manage this. If you miss this selection and still wish to play in competitive matches, the selection committee will assess you at training and put you in the appropriate team for your skill and commitment levels.
Once you are selected for a squad, it will be assumed by the team captain that you are able to play in all matches unless you specify that you cannot play.
It is the responsibility of every player to communicate with their captain before training on Wednesday regarding the match on the following Saturday. Captains should not spend Wednesday nights organising teams when they should be training with the rest of the club. Being captain is often a thankless task, so please make their lives easier!
Junior Matches
Croydon Netball League is also introducing a new Junior league, and more information will be available soon. If you know a young player who would like to participate, please talk to Jo Handley. CMO’s have a great record of bringing young players through the ranks and we should try hard to keep this going.
Social Events
We are a very social club! We organise a number of functions each year including quiz nights, karaoke and club nights, charity rally participation, netball weekenders and our annual mixed rally. We also take a table or two at the end of season Croydon Netball League dinner and dance, which is usually followed by more drinks and dancing in Croydon.
Umpiring
Croydon Netball League is working hard to increase the number of umpires within the game, and CMO’s are keen to take part.
If you are an umpire or wish to take your test, please let us know. CMO will pay your entry fees and test fees, and once you are qualified, umpires are paid £15 per game.
Team Kit
We are changing some of our kit, moving from traditional gym skirts to dresses. All players should indicate their sizes on the membership form along with the items needed, and we can organise a group purchase.
Any players without team kit should play where possible in navy blue. We recommend netball shoes rather than fashion trainers, and goes without saying that jewellery should be removed and nails should be short and smooth.
