Here’s how to get started:
· Review the program website: www.miracosta.edu/serve, the monthly volunteer calendar, and a list of non-profit organizations from your local community, is a great place to start.
· Use this document to track all of your volunteer hours from non-profit organizations and public schools.
· Sign up to be on the MCC Volunteers list serve. You will receive monthly updates, volunteer postings, and special events.
· Remember to take your service seriously. Be punctual, call if you can’t make it, dress appropriately and follow the rules and guidelines provided by the organization.
· When you have completed your service be sure to turn in this timecard to the Service Learning & Volunteer Center. The staff records your hours and can provide you with a “service history”.
· Participating students are eligible to receive the following awards:
- 50 service hours: MCC Volunteer Service Award
Time Cards are Due April 15
- 100 service hours: US Presidential Service Award*, presented by the
Corporation for National and Community Service. You must be a
U.S. citizen or permanent US resident to apply.
Time Cards are Due April 1
*MiraCosta Presidential Service Award available for those that don’t meet the requirements for US Presidential Award. /
