Horam Parish Council –APRIL2017 Reports

Chairman (Cllr M Cousins):

  • Councillor Knight and I went to the Highways Call Centre and Depot in Ringmer. It was interesting to see behind the scenes and how complaints are dealt with for the different areas of East Sussex.
  • Councillor Sue Lane and I attended the SALC Spring Conference. The powerpoint presentations have been sent out to all. The one thing that stood out was the “friends against scams”. There has been a great deal in the press regarding this. In some cases a connection with this type of crime with loneliness and isolation. Something we all should be aware of in our community. Check out the website for information on how you can get involved:

There has been a meeting with the Village Hall Management Committee. Notes to follow.

Planning (Cllr M Cousins):

  • The Planning Committee are putting together a response to the Wealden District Council Local Plan. Any further comments from Members would be useful. As part of our response we are attempting to appoint a new Highways Consultant.
  • After a meeting with a representative from Wealden District Council, the Crematorium has a designated person to deal with the updates on the works progress.
  • General planning see published minutes.
  • Arranging a meeting with Beech Homes to discuss updates.
  • Works on the former Horam Inn are in full swing.
