Publications Editing Affairs

To enhance the circulation of campus information, the Journalism Section is responsible for editing campus publications to enhance the circulation of information among faculty, staff, students and alumni and cross-universities. The publications include【MC Weekly】published every week of the academic year,【MC Magazine】published once every season, and【MC Alumni】published once every season.

Hold interviewers’ meeting to set the topic of news and content of special features.

Start news gathering based on the resolutions of the interviewers’ meeting.

All reporters draft news based on their interviews and send to editing unit for collation.

Send the news content of 【MC Weekly】,【MC Magazine】for approval. The content is proofread and revised by responsible staff of the affairs reported and the Secretary General, then sent for president’s approval. Moreover,【MC Alumni】also must be proofread and revised by the Chairman of the Board of the Alumni Association and relevant personnel of the Alumni Relations Section.

Revise news content based on the approval results.

Layout arrangements.

Complete【first draft】for proofreading by work-study students and staff.

The blueprint is sent for president’s approval.

Approved version is sent to printer for printing; staff keeps in touch with the printer.

Rearrange the content for uploading onto webpage, 【MC Alumni】is combined with relevant documentation and sent to the Alumni Relations Section for safekeeping. After all publications are published, 【MC Weekly】is distributed to Taipei, Taoyuan, Kinmen locations, and Jihe complex for faculty and students to pick up; 【MC Magazine】is distributed to all locations for faculty and students to take and also posted to other universities and institutions; 【MC Alumni】is sent to the Alumni Relations Section for them to entrust the mailroom to post to alumni at home and abroad.

Budget Reimbursement.

Hold feedback meeting to review if there are any mistakes in the publications or any content that needs amendment, discuss readers’ feedback and comments at the same time and use these as further reference.

Control Points:

Whether the news content isdetailed, reliable and accurate. Proofreading is completed by Secretary General, Vice President and President. MC Alumni publication also includes relevant personnel from the Alumni Association to confirm the content matches the facts and current status to avoid printing incorrect information that would result in problems for relevant units.

Whether the content, layout and titleare correct, whether the whole article is included, whether all graphics, graphs, and statistics are correct; implement layout check to avoid errors.

Check if publication contents match with meeting resolutions and follow up on the publication status to evaluate if the publication meets the need for all Schools and departments and faculty and students’ expectations.
