LHS Booster Club Meeting

President Jeff Brecht called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m.

Student Guests

  • Lizette Wright and Lucy Dekkenga shared information regarding the Statesman, LHS School Newspaper. The paper has daily online publishing as well as a monthly magazine. There are currently 24 members with hopes of 30 for the 17-18 school year. Students chosen are in a journalism class, fill out an application, provide 2 letters of recommendation and maintain good grades. The Senior issue, which is dedicated to the commemoration of the Seniors, will offer Activity Ads of various sizes which may be purchased by parents, grandparents, friends, etc. More information is available through or . The deadline for secured Ads is April 28th. Artwork is due by May 5th. The Statesman staff will assist with creating ads as well.

Administration – Mr. Joey Struwe

  • Jared Fredenburg (LHS Head Football Coach) shared his hopes and plans to create a solid program to represent LHS for the 2017 football season. He hopes to get more recognition for school scholarships as well as creating “good men for the community”. Jared Smith will be joining LHS (formerly at RHS) as the offensive line coordinator.
  • Mr. Struweencourages anyone interested (no experience necessary) to volunteer for the Metro or Greeno Track Meets hosted by LHS at O’Gorman.

Secretary Report

  • Roster available online at (Password: b00ster)
  • Notify Jane Schroeder () of any spring roster updates.
  • Motion made to approve the minutes of the February 13 meeting. Minutes were approved.

Treasurer’s Report

  • Current balance: $201,059.53.
  • Activities can begin submitting their 2017-2018 budgets on May 1st to receive their Presidents Bowl allocations (which are similar to last years allocations).
  • Motion made to approve the report, 2nd received. Report was approved.

Old Business

  • Presidents Bowl will need many volunteers to be successful.
  • Jeff Brecht recognized the passing of Rich Hanson. Rich served the district for many years as Basketball, Football, and track official.

New Business

  • Officers to Elect for ’17-18 Booster Club are as follows:
  • President- Roger Sudbeck
  • President Elect- Steve Siegel
  • Vice President- Clint Sargent
  • Treasurer- Julie Westra
  • Assistant Treasurer- Paige Honner
  • Secretary- Susan Eichacker
  • Assistant Secretary- Stephanie Hiatt
  • These officers will be voted on during the next meeting on April 10.

Announcements

  • Refer to the separate Booster Club Report on various activities on the website.
  • Baseball cuts will be occurring this week.
  • Several Choir students participated in the National Honor Choir. 1500 auditioned, 300 were selected, 7 from SD, 3 from LHS.
  • Incoming freshman starting marching band this evening.

Next meeting is April 10, 2017.
