Job Title: Community Services Manager
Purpose of role:To manage Headway West Sussexservices
Hours:14 hours per week – 6 month contract
Salary:£24000.00 (pro rata £4539.08)
Location: Littlehampton (office based) with travel around West Sussex
Start date: Immediate
Job Summary
With an immediate start you willmanage Headway West Sussex (HWS)services,(Support Groups, Counselling Service, Support & Information Service, and Social Groups) across West Sussex for a six month period whilst HWS develops and recruits a permanent Community Services and Development Managers role (P/T). You will play a key role in the preparation for this role. You will play a vital role in the development of this fast growing, person centered and busy charity.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Line management of existing HWS services staff.
- Recruitment, trainingand supervision ofservices staff and volunteers as required.
- Review current services, providing reports for the Development Manager and trustees to use in our development process.
- Manage the referral process for our Counselling Service and coordinate our counselling partnership.
- Visit services regularly to meet with service users and to support staff.
- Responsible for the collation of monitoring.
- Review and make recommendations for the development of existing monitoring systems.
- Responsible for coordinating effective communication and provision of lone working procedure for service staff.
- Collaborate and work with other staff members in the development, publicity and smooth running of Headway West Sussex to a high professional standard.
- Support the Service & Development Manager in funding bids and any other fundraising activities Headway West Sussex.
- All administrational tasks associated with this role.
- Attending meetings and events as required.
- Ensure that Headway West Sussex is informed of new and existing services that support people living with ABI, their families and carers in the county.
- Attending events and any relevant opportunities to maximise awareness of HWS services amongst the general public, those living with ABI and professionals.
- Provide holiday and sickness cover for other HWS services.
- Full awareness of the importance of data protection, confidentiality, safeguarding and inclusion is essential.
Person Specification for Community Services Manager (P/T TEMP)
- Knowledge and understanding of Acquired Brain Injury or other whole of life conditions and the associated issues for carers/families or proven transferable skills.
- Experience of service management in the charitable sector or the skills to step into this role from a role with equal responsibility and transferable/similar skills.
- Self-motivated and organised with the ability to work independently.
- The ability to make an immediate start and maximize the output of this role within the contracted period
- Experience of line management, providing supervision and managing a team or individuals.
- Knowledge of a person centred approach and understanding that HWS service users’ individual rights and choices are actively promoted and supported, and their beliefs and preferences appropriately acknowledged.
- Experience of monitoring and reporting.
- Understanding of and dedication to working in a confidential way.
- The desire to work within a fast developing organisation and play a part in its continued development and strategy.
- Willingness to travel across West Sussex as required.
- Willingness to cover other staff members in times of sickness or holiday, sometimes at short notice.
- Experience of promoting and practising equal opportunities.
- Excellent and proven communication skills with a wide range of people in various ways.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel and email.
- Be able to work daytimesand have some evening and weekend availability.
- Willingness to carry out other reasonable tasks as the role evolves.
- Must have own transport.

Performance Review
Overall performance will be formally appraisedand reviewed regularly, with additional informal assessment taking place as necessary. The post will be subject to a three month probation period with Headway West Sussex having the ability to extend to six months.

All employees and volunteers are subject to the Health and Safety at Work Act. The post-holder is required to proactively comply with their duties as described by organisational policy and objectives for health and safety.
Confidentiality
All employees are required to work with the HWS Confidentiality Policy and to sign a confidentiality agreement.
DBSCheck
All staff are required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. DBS checks from existing employers will be considered.
