Chamber Objective

The objective of the Hancock Chamber of Commerce shall be to promote businesses and tourism in the Town of Hancock, Maryland and its immediate environs; to foster the development of existing businesses and attract new businesses to the Town of Hancock; and to strengthen the ties between Hancock area businesses and various Federal, state, and local governmental organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and private organizations in furtherance of the interests of the membership.

Requirements for Membership

Full membership in this organization is available to any business, individual, or organization in the Town of Hancock and within a twenty-five (25) mile radius of the Town. Non-voting associate memberships are also available for all businesses, individuals, or organizations, including those located outside the twenty five mile radius of the Town.

Membership Benefits

Members will receive a reminder notice of the Chamber’s quarterly public meeting. In addition to a regular Chamber business meeting, an informative guest speaker generally follows. Members with the right to vote may vote for Chamber board members and other items which come before the membership.

The Chamber sponsors a webpage ( which includes a business address and telephone directory. On average, the website receives several thousand visits per month. A link to a member’s website or email address is also included.

A quarterly correspondence will be sent via mail or email to each member. Members will also receive local marketing brochures and have an opportunity for free or reduced rate advertising for special events.

Members with full voting rights are eligible for nomination to the board of directors. All members are eligible for appointment to ad-hoc committees as approved by the board.

Student Activities Sponsor

The Hancock Chamber of Commerce is actively engaged in supporting the business education of local students. The Chamber feels that by “planting the seeds of good business sense” in students today, these same individuals will be better prepared to become our community’s business leaders in the future.

The Chamber is pleased to announce its partnership with Hancock Middle-Senior High School to start an FBLA program scheduled to begin in the fall of 2014. The Chamber also has plans of sponsoring a scholarship to a deserving graduate of HMSHS that has declared an intention to study a business related course at the post-secondary level. A portion of each membership will be earmarked towards this scholarship. Money will also be set aside in the budget each year to help fund the FBLA program. If you wish to contribute additional money above what is provided by your annual dues, please indicate below.
