Hall of Fame Award

Overview

The GOLD Hall of Fame Award is selected annually by the MGA GOLD Committee to recognize three outstanding GOLD Affinity Groups (AGs) for their activities and successes. These are considered to be the most outstanding GOLD Affinity Groups throughout the world.

Eligibility and Evaluation

All GOLD affinity groups will be eligible for this award unless they did not report at least twoactivities to IEEE for the calendar year. Activities that were held but not reported to IEEE, nor any joint activitieswith the section, with other affinity groups,society chapters, and other sections and their AGs/chapters are not eligible for the Award. Relevant information to determine the winners will be obtained via L31 reports, nominations fromthe Region Coordinators, and statements from the nominee sections’ GOLD AG chairs.

Winners willbe judged based on the following criteria:

Basic Requirements Met

IEEE Sections are required to host the basic recommended/required activities (i.e., GOLD Reception)

Affinity groups must elect officers for the upcoming year and report them to IEEE Headquarters

Events must be reported through L31 and/or vTools in a timely manner

Member Participation

The following will be considered:

Average attendance at GOLD events (relative to the section GOLD membership)

The ratio of attending members to GOLD volunteers

Member Awareness and Interest

Through the use of formal surveys, the degree to which GOLD members are aware of and/orinterested in the affinity group and its activities

Member Satisfaction

The degree to which the affinity group uses formal surveys that align with the MGA memberstrategy

Volunteer Recruitment

The degree to which the affinity group has attracted new volunteers to influence its

direction

Volunteer Ownership

The scope and depth of activities and events offered by the affinity group

Total number of GOLD events held (relative to the section size and number of volunteers)

GOLD programs creativity and innovation

Variation in the types of activities (Technical, Professional, Educational, Social, etc)

Increased Membership

Year‐over‐year growth trend in the member retention for that section

Percent of GOLD and student members that renewed their membership for the following

year

Four judges will be selected annually from members of the MGA GOLD committee. The judges willbe selected by the MGA GOLD chair

Nomination Process and Timeline

One or up to a maximum of three GOLD affinity groups from each region will be nominated by the current orpast GOLD Coordinator of the respective region. Nomination deadline will be February 15 annually.

Judging will be completed by 15 April. Winners will be announced in early May.

Awards

All winners will be awarded US $500.00 and a plaque to celebrate their achievement. Winners will also be placed in the GOLD Hall of Fame.
