Training for Business Leaders in Essex
Scheduled for April – June 2017
This 4-Step Grow & Change Workshop Programme is designed to support growing businesses that will benefit from boosting the leadership, change management and other personal and business development skills that will assist them in moving their businesses forward.
Although each of the four workshops in the Grow & Change Workshop Programme can be attended as a stand-alone session, the workshops have been designed to work together to provide a comprehensive set of skills that will be of real benefit to those who have a role to play in managing and developing growing businesses.
The workshops included in the Grow & Change Workshop Programme are:
Develop the Person
As smaller organisations develop and grow the business owners and directors will need to make the move from a purely operational role to a more strategic role; that is, moving from ‘doing’ to ‘leading’. This workshop focuses on the personal and strategic leadership skills essential for the effective management of a growing organisation. This workshop includes:
-Understanding the difference between operational management and strategic leadership.
-Key leadership skills for growing businesses.
-Developing your problem solving skills and handling potential issues with the business, people and customers.
-Improving business resources and finances through better negotiation skills.

Develop the Team
This workshop focuses on the people management skills that are essential to create a cohesive team that works together to support the business and achieve help it achieve its goals. This workshop includes:
-Effective Delegation.
-Effective team management and leadership skills.
-Setting the team’s direction and managing expectations.
-The skills of mentoring and coaching for developing team performance.
-Processes for development reviews and setting personal action plans.
-Selecting the right people.

Develop the Business
Whilst every organisation wants to be successful a sudden upsurge in business can be extremely damaging if there are no plans in place to manage it.This workshop focuses on the strategic planning skills essential for the management of business growth, enabling businesses to manage a programme of sustainable expansion and growth. This workshop includes:
-Recognising opportunities.
-Understanding the strategic planning process.
-Setting and implementing long-term strategic goals.
-Making more money through business growth.
-Managing business expansion and growth and creating succession plans.

Manage the Change
Change is an inevitable part of growth and development; this workshop demonstrates ways to embrace, rather than resist, change and make innovation part of the culture of the business. This workshop includes:
-Understanding the process of change
-Planning for change and staying focused and on-track.
-Managing people and teams through change.
-Managing moves to new premises.
-Creating a culture of innovation.
-Recognising difficulties and dealing with them.

To attend these workshops you will need to match with the candidate eligibility outlined below and also the additional eligibility for this Grow & Change Workshop is as follows:
• Minimum 5 FT employees or PT equivalent
• Positions within business – needs to be management to get the best from the workshop
• How long they have they been trading – at least 2 years (unless special circumstances)
• How does attending this workshop support your business objectives

CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY:
• On completion of this workshop you will be automatically referred to one of the BEST Growth Hub Navigators, who will be able to signpost you to further advice and any training that you might require.
• Each Business may attend workshops up to a maximum of 21 hours in total from November 2016 to June 2017.
• Delegates may take part in as many online training workshops as they like as these do not count toward their overall hours.
• Each business can send a maximum of 2 members of staff on each course.
• In order to qualify for a place on the course, the employer/business must be based in Essex.
• Please note that the workshop may not take place if there are not a minimum number of attendees.
• Ignite Business Enterprise Limited will share information with Local Authorities and the BEST Growth Hub. The BEST Growth Hub, as the funders of the business support courses, may share your details with the Department for BEIS &; your Local Authority, this may be used to facilitate the delivery and management of the services being provided.
