Friday, October 30, 2009 -- The Griffin-Spalding Education Foundation and the Griffin-Spalding Partners in Education haveawarded over $19,000 in grants to teachers in the Griffin-Spalding County School System.
Fundedare 48 grants ranging from $50.00 to $1000.00.Teachers in 11 schools will be able to jump start educational projects not funded through tax dollars. The grants will support subjects including math, literature, and science.
“The granting organizations are dedicated to enhancing educational experiences for students,” said Byron Brock, Chair of Partners in Education.
“The foundation is pleased that the Teachers Giving to Teachers campaign is working so well. The funds donated by teachers go directly back into the schools for educational projects not supported by the tax dollars. As the program grows with this fall’s campaign, so too will the funds awarded to teachers,” said Skipper Burns, chair of the Education Foundation.
Partners in Education is a non-profit school-business partnership organization sponsored by the Griffin-Spalding County Board of Education and the Griffin-Spalding Chamber of Commerce. It was founded in 1982 to improve the quality of education for Griffin-Spalding County School System students.
The Griffin-Spalding Education Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization in its 10th year, raises funds for the support of grants and scholarships to teachers in the Griffin-Spalding County School System.
