Collecting Data

Station 1

  1. Collect data about the eye color of your group members. Record this information in your group data table and then on the board. At the end of class, record all data from the class data onto your paper.
  2. Collect data about the kind of pets your group. Pet categories include: Cat, Dog, Bird, Reptile, Rodent, other and none. Record this information in your group data table and then on the board. At the end of class, record all data from the class data onto your paper.
  3. Collect data about the kinds of extra curricular activities each student in your group and then record this information on the board. [Sports, Band, Club/organization, Non-school (Ex. Girl Scouts, Church …), Work,Other or NONE] At the end of class, record all data from the class data onto your paper.
  4. Count the number of male and female students in the class. Record the information in your group data table.

Station 2

  1. Measure in centimeterseach person’s shoe in your group. Record this information on your data sheet along with the gender of each person.

Station 3

  1. Measure each person’s height in your group. Measure in centimeters. Record this information on your data sheet along with the gender of each person.

Station 4

  1. Measure (to at least one decimal place, in centimeters) the length, width, and height of each of the books. Find the books’ volume by using the formula:

Volume = Length x Height x Width (Round the answer to one decimal place.)

  1. Measure the mass of each of the books and record it in the data table.

Station 1 –To find the % divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100, round to the closest whole number. Please show ALL calculations on a separate piece of paper.

Example: % Blue = 12 /31 x100 = 38%.

Station 2 – Create bar graphs for the shoe sides of each group member and the average shoe sizes of the males and females in the class

Station 3 – Create bar graphs for the height of each group member and the average heigh of the males and females in the class

Station 4 – plot a multiple line graph that shows the density (volume vs mass) of each of the books
