A reminder to all Wheaton High School students! This is the last week of the first quarter marking period. Please make sure you have all your tests, quizzes and assignments completed by Friday. Your first quarter grade will determine your academic eligibility for second quarter. If you want to continue to participate in extracurricular activities you must maintain a 2.0 GPA with no more than 1 E.

Attention Lady Knights, if you are interested in auditioning for the Poms Squad there will be an interest meeting next Thursday, Nov 10th, during lunch in the dance studio. Clinics will be Nov 11th and 14th and Auditions will be Nov 15th. You must have a current physical to audition. See Coach Kalema in 1709 for more information!!

Attention staff and students. How would you like to see one of your staff members kiss a frog? It's a lot of fun. You can do so by voting for your favorite staff member in the cafeteria at lunch time every day from October 31st to November 17th for 25 cents per vote. You may vote as many times as you like. Urge your teachers to participate in this contest. The money goes to support St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

The Female Student-Athlete of the Week is Ayana Akli (Girls Tennis) (Class of 2019) for winning the MCPS Regional Tennis Championship this past Friday. Ayana defeated the three-time state champion twice in one week.

The Male Student-Athlete of the Week is Derick Ntam (Varsity Football) (Class of 2018) for forcing two turnovers and scoring a touchdown this past Friday vs. Rockville.

Attention all Wheaton staff and students: Tomorrow is makeup picture day. From 8:30 to 12:30, Lifetouch will be taking photos for those who missed the regular picture day, in the auditorium on the stage.

Attention all Wheaton students interested in joining the wrestling team. Please pick up the weight certification permission slip from Coach Marville’s office, room 3412 or the wrestling room. Weight certification will be held at Blake High school on Monday November 7th. A bus will be provided. Please be at Wheaton no later than 12:15 (there is no school on that day). If you are unable to make it please contact Coach Marville as soon as possible. Look forward to seeing you there and as always Go Knights!"

Wheaton Knights Cheerleaders will be competing in the annual County Competition held this year on November 12, 2016 at Blair High School starting at 9:30 am. Wheaton will perform 4th and tickets will be sold at the door for 5 dollars but to avoid long lines , tickets can be purchased through the Athletic Department starting now. Come out to support your Wheaton Knight Cheerleaders and bring you're Wheaton spirit!

Attention all current and interested swim and dive team members. Please stop by Mr. Helberg’s room, room 3100 sometime this week. You will need to provide current parent contact information as well as pick up an updated driving form to be completed before the first practice. Our first practice will be Monday Novemeber 14th in room 3100 at 2:45. This will be a mandatory meeting to finalize all transportation, swim suit costs, meet lineups, and other important information.”

All girls interested in playing girls lacrosse this spring, there will be an interest meeting today during lunch in room 2017. If you have any questions, please see Ms. Holliday in the counseling office.

The Wheaton GSA will meet during the second half of lunch this Friday! It’s our last meeting of the quarter, so we hope to see you there!

Attention Debate team members: There will be a MANDATORY MEETING tomorrow during lunch in room 2203. At least ONE member of your team MUST attend--attendance will be taken. Any team not represented by at least one member at the meeting will NOT be eligible to compete in November's tournament. See Ms. Sullivan with any questions.

Attention Wheaton High School Book Club members, our next meeting is next Wednesday, November 9, 2016 right after school in the media center. If you still need a copy of Unwind, please check it out from the library or see Ms. Brown for assistance.

If you love to write and have always wanted to write that one great novel, well now’s the time to do it. It is National Novel Writing Month. For a button and more details please see Ms. Brown in the media center during lunch on Friday and Monday.

If you need SSL HOURS please join the green team in room 3211 at 12:20 every Tuesday. New members are needed.

Students who are working on their HSA Bridge Project for NSL or Biology should report to room 3012 on their assigned day during period 1. See Mr Bergoffen for more details.

Good Luck to the Cross Country team who are competing in the 3A South Regional Championships today at Watkins Mill HS. The boys will be trying to qualify for their fourth straight trip to the State Championships while the girls will be trying to qualify for the first time in over a decade. The first race is at 3:00 PM.

Anyone interested in competing for Indoor Track and Field need to turn in their forms by Friday, November 11 to Coach Trumbull in room 2009. You will not be allowed to practice on the first day if you do not turn them in by the end of that day.

CollegeTracks seniors, are you planning to take the December SAT? The Registration deadline is TODAY! Come to Collegetracks for help. And, are you applying to any colleges with November 15 application deadlines? Attend today’s afterschool workshop in Room 1007.

Come meet artist Debra Halprin today in room 1210 at 3:00 to see and talk about her art work. This is open to ALL students interested! Ms. Halprin is an award winning artist whose work has been accepted into numerous juried exhibits, including the prestigious Philadelphia Watercolor Society’s International Exhibition.

Attention seniors – Ms. Schreckengost has a few remaining t-shirts if you are still interested in purchasing a senior t-shirt. There a few smalls and larges left. They are $25 each. Please see Ms. Schreckengost in room 3602 if you are interested.

Students, do you want to practice for the SAT, ACT, and AP Exams? If so, go to the public library website and click on the “For You” tab at the top of the screen and then click on “Teens”. Then click on the “Getting Ready for College” tab. You must have a library card to use all the free online practice tests. Please see Ms. Brown in the media center if you need assistance

Don't forget to turn in your senior quote to Ms. Brandon by THIS Friday, November 4th if you'd like to have it included with your senior picture in the yearbook.

Interested in cars, robots and community service? Come to the NSBE meeting on Fridays in Room 31 09.

2. Buy your piece of history!!! The Honor Society is selling bricks from the old Wheaton High School for $10.00 supplies are limited!!!

3. The national honor society is also selling brick pavers for one of the walkways around new Wheaton... watch the Wheaton website for more info!!!

The Wellness Center provides Sports Physicals and medical appointments if needed. The procedure for setting up an appointment is to get a Wellness Center packet that needs to be filled out by a parent/guardian, bring the completed packet back into the Wellness Center, and then sign up for an appointment. Any other questions or any students that need the packet to sign up please go to the Wellness Center.
