Tell Me More Shakespeare

Gifted Freshman Research Project

The purpose for this project is to get you to tell me and your classmates about William Shakespeare. We want to know more about the man everyone thinks is so great! You will conduct your research through the CHHS online databases, organize your findings in an electronic presentation format (PREZI) and present your findings to the class.

Procedure:

1) The Topics

Select a topic you would be interested in researching. Write down why you would be interested in researching that topic. The topics available are as follows:

1)  Shakespeare the Actor

2)  Shakespeare the Playwright

3)  Shakespeare’s Personal Life

4)  Shakespeare’s Comedies

5)  Shakespeare’s Tragedies

6)  Shakespeare’s Histories

7)  Shakespeare the Poet

8)  The Globe Theatre

9)  Shakespeare Today

10)  Elizabeth I of England

11)  Lord Chamberlain’s Men

2) The Research

·  Read to find out about your topic using CHHS Media Center databases (and other sources with teacher approval).

·  You must use 4 sources for this project and you must cite them using Easy Bib.

·  Using Easy Bib, you must create 5 notecards per source. Total, you will submit 20 notecards to Ms. V.

·  The articles must come from a credible and reliable source…not a pop magazine, an online blog, or Wikipedia. Databases on our school’s media center website are all credible and reliable. Prior teacher approval is required for the use of any other sources.

3) Electronic Presentation

·  Present your findings to the class using an electronic presentation format. Use Prezi.

·  Your Prezi will use few words and pictures to report your research.

·  You may only include pictures and 3-4 words per frame. You may not type paragraphs and read from the frame. Choose your pictures and words wisely. Points will be deducted for having more than 3-4 words per frame.

·  You must cite all sources (facts and pictures) that you include. You will have your 4 sources of research and a citation for every picture. If you have 6 pictures, I expect to see 6 citations in addition to your 4 citations from research (10 citations total). All pictures and facts must be cited on Works Cited Page. You will turn in a hard copy to Ms. V and document the Works Cited on your last slide of your Prezi. Pictures and other images must include the URL on the same frame.
