Georg Kaufmann Innovation and Georg Kaufmann Tooling

Complete single-source production solutions

Busslingen, April 2011. – Georg Kaufmann AG, Busslingen/ Switzerland, will be presenting itself in a strategically repositioned form at the VDI International Conference “Plastics in Automotive Engineering” in Mannheim/Germany on 6th and 7th April 2011. With immediate effect, injection moulding process technology and all related development services will come under the auspices of Georg Kaufmann Innovation. Material, process and mould innovations will here be combined to create new technologies for the production of path-breaking products. Every customer will now receive a fully integrated, value enhancing solution from one single source. To this end, a dynamic, competent and well-networked team of development engineers at Georg Kaufmann Innovation will develop unconventional ideas and transform them into practical production solutions, always paying heed to the customer’s special requirements and basic conditions.

The complete package offered by Georg Kaufmann Innovation extends from the initial concept and the development and perfection of the manufacturing process through to the commencement of mass production. The package includes the coordination of all tasks, the coordination of the work of all partners involved in the project and the coordination of all services necessary for the realization of the development stage and the production process, the benefits to the customer being threefold: there are only very few work process interfaces at the concept and development stage, an overview of the entire project is possible at all times and all the individual units of the production line are optimally adapted to one another.

This decision to reorganize the Kaufmann portfolio has been occasioned by the continuing trend towards production integration in the plastics industry. Processes that were hitherto completely separate are now being integrated more and more into one single complex production sequence. Such integration of production processes is the key to improved quality and increased productivity while at the same time reducing production costs. Its successful implementation, however, demands a great deal of preparatory work and time – and this is precisely where Georg Kaufmann Innovation comes in.

Georg Kaufmann Tooling will continue to specialize in the development and construction of precision injection moulds for the production of high-quality plastic parts and is therefore ideally equipped for putting into practice the technologies developed by Georg Kaufmann Innovation.

The specialities of Georg Kaufmann Innovation and Georg Kaufmann Tooling are lightweight construction technology and the development of processes for the production of plastic parts featuring enhanced and/or functional surfaces. For both of these fields, the two companies can offer the benefit of their vast experience gained in the automotive industry. Their most recent development, the manufacture of lightweight components from a fabric-reinforced semifinished thermoplastic composite in a combined thermoforming and injection moulding process, has enormous application potential in many industries, including the aircraft industry. With the injection moulding processes normally used for the in-mould decoration of parts for car passenger compartments it is also possible, for example, to produce comfortable seating for other kinds of vehicle or for sports stadia. Functional surfaces featuring decorative metal foils, heatable coatings, EL films or integrated sensors are attracting growing interest in the furniture and household appliance industries and likewise count among the many possible applications for Kaufmann technology.
