Dear Parents,
I hope you had a good half term. This half seems even busier than last. Here are the key dates.
22.2.2018
Year 2 are going along to the Wave to hear about the Lifeboat and Inshore Rescue as part of ‘Go Orange’ on Friday afternoon. Key Stage one will be having an assembly on the work of the lifeboat this Friday.

Friends of Dearham are holding their next meeting at 7.30 p.m. All welcome.
1.3.2018
This is World Book Day. This year we are launching The Team Evie reading challenge for all pupils, rather than dressing up. The challenge will see pupils encouraged to read as many books as they can. More information will be sent home on World Book Day.

There will be two Harry Potter themed discos in the hall to raise money for Rock Challenge.
Year 1,2 and 3 are from 4.00 – 5.15 p.m.
Year 4,5 and 6 from 5.30 – 6.45 p.m.
The entry price is £3.00 including drink, crisps and sweets. Fancy dress is optional.

Key Stage two are having an assembly with Rev Day and the Bishop of Whitby.

Year 5 are holding the final event of their Bright stars entrepreneurial challenge – a Bright Stars fair after school – there will be framed prints on offer, a teddy tombola and a cake stall. This will be in the Sports Hall from 3.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.

Sports competitions
On Wednesday 7th February Year 5 and 6 teams took part in a football competition at Netherhall School. Both teams did very well. Our Year 6 won their group and we were again knocked out on penalties! Special thanks to Julian Chapman for coaching the tear 6 team.
On Thursday 8th February, seven children travelled to Sedburgh in very wet and muddy conditions. They took part in the Cumbria Cross Country Championships. All children did well. Trent will now go in to run for Cumbria in the National finals.

Nursery build
The new Nursery build is almost complete and we hope to take occupation soon.
Nursery applications for September 2018
If anyone would like an application form for a place in September 2018 – please collect a form from the school office asap.
End of term
Easter is very early this year. We therefore finish school on Thursday 29th March at 1.30 p.m.
