comenius Regio contact seminar

Combating poverty and social exclusion

27–30 September 2010

Toledo (Spain)

What is a contact seminar?

A contact seminar is a networking event organised by a National Agency. It aims at bringing together people from organisations which share common interests and would like to develop European cooperation projects/partnerships in the field of education and vocational training. It is a great 'partner-finding' opportunity that will also allow you to:

v  receive more information on the Lifelong Learning Programme and the sub-programme you are interested in;

v  receive information on good practice examples and meet people from organisations which have already developed European cooperation projects;

v  get to know suitable partner organisations;

v  take part in workshops where you can draft your future project/partnership;

v  receive advice from NA staff and other experts on how to draft a successful grant application;

rationale and objectives of the seminar

The seminar, organised by the National Agency in cooperation with the Educational Regional Authorities in the Castilla-La Mancha Region, is aimed at Regional and Local Educational Authorities wishing to establish Comenius Regio Partnerships. Although Comenius Regio partnerships must involve at least one school and one other actor (e.g. a teacher training institute, a museum, a non-profit organisation, an enterprise etc.) in each of the two regions concerned, only local or regional authorities with a role in school education can coordinate the partnership and act as applicant institutions.

location and travel information

The city of Toledo, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986, is located on a rocky headland, bordered by the river Tajo in the very heart of Spain, just 70 kilometres from the capital, Madrid. For centuries, the capital of Castile-La Mancha has been able to preserve an unrivalled, thousand-year-old urban, architectural, and artistic heritage. Churches, synagogues, mosques, convents, city walls, bridges, towers and an endless amount of cultural and artistic possibilities held in their buildings make Toledo a museum waiting to be discovered.

In just 25 minutes from the Atocha station in the centre of Madrid, the AVE Madrid-Toledo (High Speed Train) will take you to the city. There are also buses from the Spanish capital every half hour, with direct routes to Toledo. (50 min. travel).

Specific details on the chosen hotel, as well as further information will be communicated at a later stage to the participants.

WORKING LANGUAGE: English.

CONTACT SEMINAR FEE: 650 EURO

It will cover costs of accommodation, meals, documentation and possible participation in organised cultural events. This payment should be made by bank transfer. The participants will be given concrete details on the account number, payment deadline, etc., once their registration is accepted.

how to get funds?

To attend a contact seminar, your organisation shall apply for a Preparatory visit grant. For detailed information on grant application form, deadlines and any other requirements applicable at national level, please contact the National Agency in your country.

WHAT TO PREPARE?

We encourage all participants to bring with them some materials (brochures, photos etc.) that represent their regions, institutions and activities, namely in relation to any aspect dealing with the theme of the seminar

We also ask all participants for their collaboration in the organisation of a European buffet on the first evening, so everybody is invited to bring some typical culinary product from their countries or regions (anything edible / drinkable is welcome) to share with the group.
