PURPOSE
The sponsoring Assembly 980, located in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in an effort to render assistance to Catholic young men and women with their first year college or university tuition, will award a scholarship(s) in the forthcoming year.
Scholarship(s), valued at $1,000.00, will be offered to any Catholic young man or women who will graduate from high school, either public or parochial, in the spring of the current year.
Each candidate must have made application for entrance to a College or University, School of Nursing or Trade School in the United States of America. Each candidate must be approved by the Scholarship Committee of the Knights of Columbus.
Candidates must be practicing Catholics attending one of the Catholic Churches in District 35 (Stroudsburg area), as verified by the Pastor of their parish. This application must be filed with the scholarship Committee no later than April 17, 2017.
PROCEDURE / REQUIREMENTS
1. The following must be submitted with the application:
a) A complete copy of your transcript of your first three years in High School
b) A brief student essay on what you have accomplished for your Church and/or Community.
c) A copy of your letter of acceptance from the school of your choice;
d) A copy of the previous year’s income tax return for parents or guardians of the applicant; this tax
return will remain completely confidential.
2. The completed application with the required attachments must be mailed (postmarked) no later than
April 17, 2017to:

No application will be processed if any of the required information is missing.
The $1,000.00 check will be written to the student and the school at the end of the candidate’s first semester, providing a Grade Point Average of 3.0 is maintained. This is to be evidenced by a copy of the candidate’s first semester transcript submitted to the K of C committee as soon as available to the address noted in item #2 above.
